From the picture, it doesn't look very bad. Yes, polish it up and keep running. Make sure you do an alignment.

I had to pull back the shaft in order the remove the transmission and noticed the shaft where it goes through the strut is very lightly scored. The previous owner had the cutlass bearing replaced about a year ago, there is not play in the shaft, and it spins freely. Can I just polish with fine grit paper or do I have to do something else?
