If it has sludge build up, I'd say so... The detergent might free it up and circulate it. If no sludge, no reason to stick with non-detergent.

Isn't it bad to change over to a detergent oil in an old engine that has always had non detergent?

A non detergent has NEVER been recommended. I and hundreds of my fellow ACBS members have no issues. They created detergent oil for a reason!!

I am not sure as my buddy that restores the oldies has a 50 gallon drum (think it is Napa) that filled up a 2 gallon can for me.

What brand do you use? I have a friend that has Caviler also, not a 100% sure of the year though, I believe it was in the 60's though. Bradpenn got back with me and need to call the rep back tomorrow about it.

I was really thinking I needed to run a little higher Zinc and Phosphorus levels then normal. Just out of curiosity have you ever sent your oil samples to blackstone?

I know not another oil thread, but was wondering what most were using? Opinions wanted

I was thinking about going with BradPenn.
