Pete, that links to all of their motor mount hardware. We have easy access to the rear lower/upper and the front PCM mounts. All of the transmission mounts are the same in marine world but it looks like there are specific lower front mounts to all the engine families.

Greg, I for sure need the top rear isolators but I have been inspecting the lowers and they seem tight and plenty pliable still. PCM must have used some good rubber. I think the rears upper isolators get ripped from adjusting transmission height for folks who do alignments as maintenance.

+1 Seems I remember I had to cut the old ones out. They were nearly as hard as the metal on both sides. |

I just checked and you can get the new isolators very reasonably. I have my mounts apart for paint and such. I am probably just going to replace it all while I am at it.

That's 'throw' Pete.
Skidim used to have new isolators. I don't see much talk about them here, but my old ones were hard as a rock and shape distorted. They're a cheap fix at the point where you are. |

Jim,
An occasional squirt of penetrating oil is good but through the WD40 out. Use something like LPS #2. I also like CRC 3-36. They won't evaporate like the WD does leaving you with nothing. Speaking of penetrating oil, through the Blaster out too. (you're spending too much time at one of the big box stores! ) The tried and true is Kroil or even better yet is a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF. It's great you finally got them apart! |

Down to my last motor mount cleanup/restoration. This one is a tranny mount and it was a bugger. It required 5 days of soaking with PB Blaster, a pulley puller and a hammer drill to get the rotating part off and I had to use a hammer drill on the square screw head to get the stainless steal vertical adjuster to move. All of them were tight and didn't freely move with out some work. I got the boat last January and am in the works of getting it back to a great boat in stead of a good boat. What does everyone do annually to the tranny mounts and motor mounts to keep them from rusting up. Will a shot of WD40 each fall be enough to keep them free and make sure they will adjust in the future?
