Pete, nothing wrong with your memory!
Yes and that guy did a good job. He just charged an arm and a leg. Only gave him an arm though.

But anyway; checked today and fluid level was a bit low. When trans acted up we were surfing (something we don't do too often). Low level in combination with tilted boat must have caused it.
Filled it up, wakeboarded a bit; no problem! Hope that's end of story.
Thanks again!

I seem to remember that thread about your trans. You had someone down there that said he could do the job.

Thanks guys!
Yes I'll check connectors/attachments first. Fingers crossed it's just that.

Pete; as far as I know it never overheated. I checked fluid level recently and haven't seen any in bilge.
Alignment is something I'll have to check.

By he way: trans was fully rebuilt when I just got the boat, about 5 years ago.

I'd check the shift cable attachment 1st. It may not be moving the lever all the way.

A friend mentioned a bad stringer on which transmission is mounted could cause the problem.

Have you checked the prop shaft to engine/trans alignment? If run with bad alignment, it can tear up the trans.

I assume you have checked the fluid level but, it does sound like your clutch plates are warped and causing the slipping. Do you know if the trans has ever been overheated?

Last time out the tranny started acting up. Borg Warner in '85 2001.
When putting in forward it sometimes seems to slip out and in of gear. Reverse haven't noticed a problem yet.
Had to put boat away quickly last time so haven't really looked into it yet.

I'll check connectors, would be great if it was just that but I'm afraid it isn't.
