Not my weapon of choice although I do have to use them every now and then.   We rarely have any issues with our John Deere's. Be sure and get something that has controls you are familiar with, I have tried to use a few that have had much different controls from what I know and it made it very hard to get anything done.

At first I thought the same. I've been called worse .

Peter I don't know much about backhoes. I do have a high school friend that I'm pretty sure sells JDs/large machinery in Lunenburg or somewhere around there. I can reach out to him if you want and get his business info. If you call just say "John Sullivan. You know, the guy that use to point his gold trans am at you at about 70 mph and make you jump into the woods. Hee, hee." Ah to be back in 1987 again.

Peter,
Cant help you with any of the "new" stuff, but we bought an old mid 70's Massey Ferguson "40" Backhoe when we first bought our place in the country. (affectionately known as the Big MF).

Had to laugh when my wife said"You dont know how to run a backhoe".To which I responded.."Everyone that knows how to run one, at one time didnt know how to. Besides, when I'm done with it I could sell it". That was 25 years ago and the ol girl is still down in my barn!

Everyone should have one!
