I stuck my home made prop rod in lastnight before skiing And had a joy-gasm afterwards. Propped up dog box and comfortably was able to pull the drain plug without burning my forearm on the oil pan. In the 70's model CC's that I've always lived with it was a balancing act of holding the dog box up as low as possible with one hand, prevent the avalanche of gear sliding into bilge from the driverside because there's no storage and unscrew plug without getting burned with the other hand.

I too wish we could find what that thing is called. I looked through my box of treasures and did not see the part. I faintly recall that perhaps I sold that prop rod a while ago. I'm sure these things exist somewhere...

I've only used the prop rod once. It seemed very flimsy and didn't really raise the doghouse high enough for me to do any sort of work.

If you can find a long l-bolt- drill a hole in the bend end and stick a cotter pin in it.

or a straight blue steel stock at your local hardware store, i.e. 1/4" or bigger. Then put you a bend in it.

or put those starlocks/push on lock washer on there.

Seems to be a common problem. Mine's been missing forever and could never find a replacement. I just use our paddle as a prop rod

Yep that rod end broke on mine but couldn't source a new one. Christines didn't have one. It occurred to me yesterday to just take an aluminum block, cut it as small as possible and still be able to drill and tap at 90* and stuck a bolt in it for bottom part. Hadn't put it in yet but don't see why it won't work.   Thanks guys. Now I just need to find this low speed vibration..........

Todd, here is a picture of the support rod and mount on my 93 Sport. Would think it would be the same set up. Good luck. Check with Christines Marine.

I looked at McMaster Carr and couldn't find it! Must've been looking at wrong spot which I asked what it was called so I knew where to look. Still haven't found it nor find out what's it's called. Last night I ended up making one out of a small piece of aluminum stock.

If you can't find one I may have an extra. McMaster-Carr might be a good place to look.

Yeah I got that one. Not thrilled about the deal etc but was running out of time. There's many things not found on a 70's boat that's on this one, one of my favorites will be the cup holder. Not quite ready for the unveiling. Need to find this drivetrain vibration.

Prop rod? NWZ? None of those found on a 70's boat--- did you get that boat up by Tim Bob? Where are the pics and story?

Not sure what it is called. In fact, would have to look at mine to remember what it looks like. Will have a look this morning.
Would think ChristinesMarine could hook you up with one.

Anybody know what the 90* fitting on the end of the prop rod that serves as the pivot hinge is called? 1/4-20 female threads on one side, tight 90* radius then 1/4-20 male on the other side. Mines broke, I tried finding one local with no luck. Thanks.
