use Claritin or Zyrtec before you start working, and use a dust mask... I react to cedar dust so some extra precautions are necessary when I work on things that are cedar... sounds much like your situation.

Pete, yes I was doing sanding. I woke up today feeling better, but not 100%. I just want to be able to enjoy tomorrow and not feel miserable. Have a good memorial weekend Pete!

Justin,
The reaction may not be the oil but the wood itself. Were you doing any sanding? Many have reactions to many different things. With wood, the oily woods affect many. In the Rosewood family, Cocobolo is a big one. It doesn't bother me but to some the dust will even affect their respiratory systems. |

My dad and I were/are re-teaking our wood side rails and platform for our boat. Could the teak oil have given me allergies since before I was perfectly fine and the day after I started, I have allergies. Could I just have had an allergic reaction? Should I stay away from the teak oil?
