I stick the drain hose in a milk jug and put air pressure in the PVC hole , cap breather hole with other hand , not to much or may blow a seal , oil being hot helps , boat on lift so I can't put hose in the drain hole

Thanks, guys! Thought oil had to be sucked out as only option, didn't know about drain tube. Boat is out of water at the moment due to steering cable replacement. It's 70 degrees in Alaska and we can't go skiing!

Only later engines! My 77 has one but even hanging in the boat house, I find it more convenient to suck it out. I tried getting the drain pan on planks under the boat in the wet slip and I ended up getting wet myself!! |

Ann,
What year boat do you have? Since the mid 70's, CC's have been equipping engines with drain hoses that you put through the garboard drain close to the keel. This of course must be done with the boat out of the water. If you don't have the hose or it's not out of the water, a vacuum pump device is used to suck it out via the dip stick hole. There are plenty out there. Google "oil vacuum extractor". |

Should have drain tube on the oil pan that you put through the water drain plug. Find the tube, warm it up with a lake or water supply, put the tube through the hull drain into a container. 5 quarts or several cleaned and dry orange juice containers, take the containers to oil change place for recycling. Swap filter after drained. It will have oil in it so clean up the dripage and replace filter. Put oil in the filter before reinstalling to minimize the lack of oil to the motor on first start.
