Correct. I've mentioned it before that I have seen boats without nuts and the prop was still on! The nylock is fine and does add insurance. They say you are only supposed to use them once so if it goes on easy, you may want to get a new one. Yes, do lap on the new prop. |

Lapping the prop to shaft well is the best insurance against it falling off. If the tapers match well, a puller is the only way it will come off.

I took the nut and prop off a while ago and there wasn't a hole in the shaft either. But after looking on the Skidim site today, they actually recommend the nyloc nut over the castle nut. So i guess I'm ok

Once you pull that nut off you will probably find that the shaft is drilled and initially had a castle nut and cotter pin.. Just a observation from finding that same setup on other older Correct Crafts.

I'm putting on my new ACME 540 prop soon and noticed other boats have a drilled shaft. for a cotter pin. Mine is just a brass nyloc type, Is there something I can do for a fail-safe so I don't lose this new prop?
BTW already matched the taper |
