A ski buddy had a brilliant idea... Instead of some scrap alum I had sitting around the garage, I should have used a slalom ski plate!!!!

It was just regular old wood glue.. If I had to depend on it sticking, I might be worried..

I'm curious on the glue too. Not many out there that will stick to Teak. What did you use?

thanks... I wondered about the glue doing much of anything as well... It's just holding the plugs in and was an attempt to fill some small voids in the ends of the support boards. If it fails completely, it shouldn't really matter.

One question I was not sure of..... The part of the swim platform where I put the aluminum brace isn't in the water when the boat's being driven, right??
No worries about changing the wake characteristics, correct? |

The farthest aft board on my 1997 platform has been an issue on and off for a while. The last time I "fixed" it, I drilled in from the end into the support board underneath, I put ss screws into the the support boards. It worked for a few years but continually launching off the platform strapped in on the kneeboard eventually bent the whole board down.
I went a little further this time. I pulled my previous screws and pulled the last board off, planed it down to sit flush again, took the sharp edge off. Glued, screwed and added an alum brace. Should keep the piece in place for a while... |
