Actually it's pretty easy. If you barefoot you will understand the rush. There is nothing like skimming the water at 40 mph on nothing but your feet. We all know that takes considerable skill and also realize their is considerable risk. Having now driven the Bass at 70 mph, the thrill/rush is pretty darn close. Now remember that is at 70 MPH, driving that boat pretty much right on the edge (ok, not really, but close enough for a rookie driver like me). I can't imagine driving a boat over 100 mph, but I imagine it is similar to the rush I got driving my snowmobile over 100 mph. Bass boats, Liberators, Eliminators are all boats that with a relatively small investment can be set up to drive 100 mph plus, often times even upwards of 120 mph Now take that to the next level. One of the guys I (used to) snowmobile with has an Allison Drag boat that is in that 100+ mph performance, but he also has cigarette style boat that is similar to many of the boats above. So he regularily runs up and down the Lake Michigan Coast Line at speeds over 100 mph AND this is a 100+ MPH boat that easily sleeps 4, has a full shower in the head, and a galley probably has big as most small apartment kitchens. Never been on the boat, but I would imagine driving that thing (15000 lbs - yes almost 8 tons) over 100 mph has to be a pretty big rush. |

Larry....she is OK.....Original Kim....dated her in HS. She is indeed for real and if you don't beleive me them ask Jbear, Hollywood, or Jackie...They met her this past weekend on Lake X and she made such a wonderful impression that she got an invite for next year whether she is with me or not. As far as the purpose of the 40 ft go fast boats???? I believe you answered your own question. I've got lots of money and I like to go fast on the water so why not?..... I think Maverick said it best...." I feel the need.....the need for speed!" |

The FMKSG (former morfoot kim support group) Meetings must be a riot, as every attendee starts with the same line "Hi, my name is Kim...." . Someone call the AJC....I think we just found a use for Turner Field. ...

Is she really ok with being referred to as "a Kim". I would at least think "the" Kim would be preferable. I just don't understand the point of those huge go fast boats. They don't seem to have much purpose other than burning through $500 worth of gas every weekend. I guess if you've got more money than sense then go for it.

So this past weekend Lake Lanier hosted its 7th annual Pirate Poker Run whose mission statement is......."We create, develop, and support charitable programs that directly and positively impact the lives and well-being of children in need throughout Atlanta and surrounding communities through contributions of time, resources, and monetary donations."
There were over 250 boats in the Poker Run itself this year with a goal of raising $450,000.00 beating last years booty of $435k. This event is a CCFan gathering of sorts but brings out the BIG DOGS of high power speed boats. You name it ....it was on the water! The run itself was last Saturday and an Armada of boats was upstream about 1.5 miles from the start so that they could get a glimpse as the big guys came flying by. You knew they were coming as you could here the motors spoiling up like the start of a NASCAR race when they let em' go. It was a sight to see and I only caught a few of them as they came by. Folks were screaming as these guys had to be doing 80+ when they came by. .... Once the majority were gone we the armada broke up and I had a couple blow by me while on the way to skiers cove. I keep a constant watch in the rear view mirror so as to stay out of the way and all three times they snuck on me. Rearview was clear and 20 seconds later one would come roaring by. MAN WHAT A GLORIOUS SOUND!!!!!!!! Oh and for good measure I took a possible calendar shot of 'Miss Scarlett' complete with a Kim on the platform! |
