It's the pin and receiver that's the problem. I like the story about the screws!

Gary, When our Northfield stickers came due last month, my wife decided to move forward and go with Wisconsin I'll probably do it too soon. I'll be going with a pick up so I'll have to go with truck plates anyway. |

Yeah Pete it is a pet peeve of mine. I can't understand how someone can spend $30k plus on anew vehicle and slap rusted bolts and/or a bent rusty crapy plate on it. I spent maybe $80 for new plates. I ran the last plates for 15yrs? With that said, it is my dad's first plate from 1957. Very proud of the plate. If it could speak? It would say " save me, call the police". LOL. I've been comforted many times at gas stations asking if I and john Sullivan's son. Sad to know it is a lost status Sybil.

No yours is free Tim te because you actually tow your boats, some people don't want to buy trailer plates. I'd bet Joe's isn't rusted together either Pete buying new would it not be better to title and license up north too? And just so you know to get cooled seats they come heated also just don't let them talk you into the rear dvd entertainment option |

I've had the Convert-a-ball front and back since day one so that's one of the reasons the mount isn't swapped much. I have noticed that even on new light duty trailers, the 2" has become pretty much a standard coupler. I'd fab up a new one but I no longer have free access to the stainless or the press break! |

I dunno Pete... Seems like your time may be wisely spent fabricating a new one rather than trying to salvage the old. Good thing my mix of 2" and 1-7/8" trailers has me swapping the mount out semi regularly. |

John, The stainless ball mount is fine. It's the pin and receiver that's the problem. I like the story about the screws! |

Lol, Pete I think we might think the same. Stainless and rusted??? New vehicle make a new one. It's like when my brother bought his new car. New license plate with recycled rusted bolts. I didn't say a word. I went to the hardware store got new bolts and replaced them. I'm not even sure if he noticed. Rust is rust. Don't introduce it to anything new.

Moving up north, I feel I'd be better of going for the heated seat option! |

Anyone who doesn't make a habit of removing their ball mount from their vehicle receiver periodically should. I just spent most of the morning trying to remove mine. It's a stainless mount I made and thinking about getting a new vehicle I wanted it out. I knew there was a problem since I did try to remove the pin several times with a sledge without any luck. The mount has been off a couple times but that was years back. The truck being a 95, the rust has really locked it in. This morning I drilled the pin with progressively lager bits until I got to 9/16 figuring I'd just yank the mount out with the tow strap around a tree. Nope, all I removed was the bark on the tree! The receiver hole is blind so I can't even get to the back side. It may come down to removing the receiver, torching a hole on the backside and getting it into the hydraulic press!
