Normal, by design

It keep the electric choke element from overheating.

Volume should me minimal, but if there is heavy airflow, something could be amiss.

Today while my motor was running I lifted the cover and heard vac leak form the nut that is right behind the choke not sure what it is I put my finger over it and it is sucking air .is this normal . Thanks for any help .
