i had to replace my starboard keypad too. i tore my keypad apart. if yours is working i don't think i would reccomend tearing it apart.. it does come apart and i did get to the circuit board but that black epoxy made it hard to take it apart without tearing off some IC chips. not good to do that. on the other hand i was able to see what some of the chips were and i ordered them from digi-key and soldered the chips onto the circuit board and then tried to see if it would work but it didn't so i bought a new keypad from MNI in florida for around $430. i thought about taking apart the new keypad so i could put on the old bezel that matches the rest of the dash, but for the money i spend on the keypad i think i will leave it alone. if anyone is brave enough to try it, i can show you how i got mine apart, and mabe you can get yours apart without tearing off the IC chips. if you are really careful i think it can be done.

The entire pod appears to be sealed.

Since you have the pod out. Does the rubber part of the smart pod easily separate from the bezel?

I would like to repaint my keypad bezels that have turned yellow. Taping off looks too cumbersome, especially on the Key Pad.

The entire Smart Pod is filled with some type of epoxy to water proof it. I highly doubt it is fixable.
Luckily had a friend that has a oscilloscope which can be used to test electronics. I determined the red wire was power and black wire was ground. With this information he was able to powered it up at this house and press the
bilge pump (important because most of the other buttons on the right hand side pod are non functional without the entering the key code on the left hand pod). Long story short, there was no data coming from the pod. So I took the chance and ordered the Smart Pod.

Sorry you were left hanging on this issue. There are many, many helpful people on this site, but the Smartpod is an area where there aren't a lot of "smarts" at the moment

It's a little bit of a black box, and there isn't a really easy way to test it. Basically those key pads aren't doing traditional switching, they are sending signals to a computer. Therefore, you really need to have a known working dash computer/gateway (whatever you want to call it) in order to test the key pads.

Certainly going to be an issue as these boats get older. Hopefully these pods will be available or someone will step up to repair them. Hard enough to find older original gauges that were generic to many brands of boats let alone a proprietary item that controls the function and use of the boat.

Well in a effort to assist someone possibly in the future. I replaced the Smart Pod and it resolved my issue. I am very thankful.

Hello I just got a 2000 SN with only 113 hours on it. It appears to be in great condition for a 15 yr old boat. However it is not without any issues.
The major issue it has right now is that and the right hand side "Smart Pod" \ accessories key panel is not functional (nothing, no light ,etc). I confirmed it has power to the plug going into the Smart Pod and the functional ground. I cannot seem to find any information on troubleshooting. Short of swapping it (cost $420.00). I do not really know where to go. I do not have a local Correct Craft dealer (2 hours away). Likewise I need to fix the trailer before I could even take it anywhere so I was hoping to fix the electrical issues myself while working on the trailer.

The second electrical issue is that there are no dash lights.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a young son that has to take his first ride and I am stumped at the moment. But purchasing the $420 part to only find out it is not the issue would be upsetting. There has to some type of troubleshooting shop manual for these Smart Pod's.

Rick
