[QUOTE=JPASS] That Spyder tower looks pretty sweet.

I Agree, I think all towers are by nature ugly, but that one is pretty low-key.

All it needs is someone to invent a pin system to remove the obtrusive rear facing arm when not in use.....and for the idea I only ask 50% of the royalties.....I can PM my mailing address.

I am regularly on a 196 with a Spider tower. Not a big fan. Constantly hitting head on tower.
I wouldn't remove it, but I certainly would not add one. My two cents. If you add a tower, add a tower. That half height Spider tower is more trouble than its worth.

Ahh. no they don't need help, one of them won the wisconsin state barefoot tournament at 14. They'd just prefer to go off the spyder tower as opposed to the back of the boat.

We were on a trick water ski team, dude were 2 ski jumping, jumping off the ski ramp, backwords footing, barrel rollling and getting back up, 1 footing.

All these dudes were nuts, i was the guy that stuck to the 5 foot extension off the boom, so that would be a good thread for me haha.

Look into the Spyder Tower that Nautique made for 2003-2007 196's.

I have surfed behind these and wake boarded and all my friends who can barefoot barefoot behind them on it also because it helps lift them out of the water....

I never once hit my head on it and there is still plenty of room to get over the windshield..

Honestly It's a great tower also because there's no worries about head room when pulling into a shorestation or garage.

Max, that ski course is there. The guys that own it usually remove the buoys during the week.
Last weekend there was a cruiser sitting in the middle of the course. Robin and I pulled up and said " do you realize that you are sitting in the middle of a slalom course?"
Mark replied "yea, sitting here to keep the tubers and boarders from running up the middle of the course" . Someone had recently run through it and snagged a ball and cut the stainless wire.
Don't know all their names. Mark, Roy and Christine, Rocky, Bob and Dave are usually on the course early in the morning around 7:30. Heard they would be there this Friday and Saturday mornings.

Unfortunately, I have had to do that too. That really pains me. But I will not tear up anyone's slalom water. That is only on weekend days when the water is not ideal for ski.

Thanks. I was too far away in a rented house. I did ski it before labor day, but did not see it out during the week when it was so peaceful after labor day. Love to know what the schedule is. I am happy to help out with it next summer if I could connect with who puts it in the water and so forth.

Extended pylon is a good solution and requires almost no mods to the boat, just the bimini if you have one.
Tower on the other hand will require cover mods, mounting holes and possibly bimini mods as well Putting cover on will likely take longer as a result of where it interfaces with the tower legs. Depending on your mooring and garage situations tower may also need to be folded there each time.

Take a look at new dimensions tower site, they make a nice clone of the factory tower for your era boat.

Probably still up.

Your profile says interests, slalom course skiing if I could find one. Last time I was on Lanier with the CCFANs the gang was skiing a course on the west side. Not sure if it's still there, maybe one of them could pipe in.

I agree with SNobsessed. A flyhigh and wakeboard rack works great and doesn't change the lines of the boat.

The high fly pylons work just as well, don't cost much, & don't need holes drilled.

I have a 2003 Ski 196, and am a pure slalom skier, but now my nephews want me to get a wake tower. They look so obtrusive for a small boat. Does anyone know of a sleeker low profile wake tower?
