Chevys and Commander Fords liked to use 1 1/4" raw water pumps. Nautique liked to install 1" through hulls. Your boat setup is likely factory. The logical place to make the change is the strainer. Through hulls rarely get changed. It's fine the way it is.

Supposedly the intake hose size for a 350 pcm is 1 1/4". But my 96 has 1" from the hull to the strainer than 1 1/4" to trans cooler. Is this right? If not than that would mean someone must have changed the thru hull ??
