You can look at pure-gas.org to find ethanol free gas in your area.

My John Deere with the high compression Kawasaki requires 93, the generator doesn't. So, I only buy 93 for everything and the Stihl blower and trimmer run great on it. I'm sure the two stroke oil lowers the octane. One of the two stores now has 91 ethanol free, same price as what the 93 was.

I've been to some get togethers and find it ironic that few are opposed to using alcohol in a system proven to be detrimental for it but then won't use it in something that can be easily repaired or replaced. In Illinois we cannot get pure gas, but out of 19 different engine powered devices, several of them being over 70 years old, only 1 a Stihl weed whip has given trouble. Marine Stabil is used in every one.

Have you tried using AvGas It is 100 octain low lead. Lasts forever with out any treatment. Small airports with no attendant and a credit card island is the best bet. Some airports are reluctant to sell to just anyone. You can always tell them its going in your ultralight.
edit: $4.25 gallon but probably won't need all that much |

I run premium in all my small power equipment simply because in my area premium is all non ethanol. There is a station where all their grades are non ethanol but that's a few miles away. I'll go there for larger quantities when I'm topping off for winter lay up. I still stabilize in both cases.

What is the generator's compression? Does the manual require 93?
I run non- ethanol too, but use 87 & haven't had any problems. |

Found out today I can't get 93 ethanol free gas anymore. Went this afternoon to get some for the generator, might get some freezing rain tonight. 93 is all I run in the John Deere, generator etc. Went to a second gas station that sold 93 and the lady said there was a law suit against the gas companies by a group she thought was called Ecogreen. They think you shouldn't be able to buy it and it's bad for the environment.
