Don't feel too bad about the thermostat-in-the-wrong-hole thing. Most of us wrench-turners have done something similar. Nice DUI distributor... JQ |

351. Thermostat form Skidim. The gasket from oriley. Could all those years of no thermostat cause the depression where the thermostat sits to fill in with rust??

I've never had a thermostat in my boat. Last year I tyed to pop one in but I started it up and it was spraying water everywhere. So I said forget it I want to ski. This year I cleaned both mating surfaces got a new gasket and tightened it down. It still sprays water, which is dripping down and creating steam? Which I hope is normal..
Anyway there doesn't seem to be any indent for the thermostat to sit in. The intake manifold is flat and the housing is flat. I tryed gasket slealer which helped some.. But still leaks. Bigger gasket? Should there be an indent? Thanks |
