just add a qt after it's drained, then see if it does the same thing you should be able to stop it by hand, well I use my foot, to stop the prop shaft if it doen't then something is broke internally.

Second thought just start by remove some fluid and see if it helps, just a little at a time. No need to waiste money on new fluid if your just going to have to pull it apart to fix.

you must have too much fluid in it or it's time for a rebuild

Thanks for getting back guys about my tanny,
One more thing is that the unit when it is in neutral it rolls pretty good down the lake.I have took the linkage loose form the shifter and put in the neutral by hand on the gear box and it still turns the prop very fast.
Thanks
JB

I would look at the cable adjustment instead of messing with the fluid level.

I over filled my trans and the same thing was happening to me last summer. Try sucking out the fluid and putting in fresh. With the trans level it holds 1.8qts at a 15 degree incline it holds 1.3qts. Keep in mind this dose not include the trans oil cooler, so if you have a trans oil cooler it will take a little more. This fixed my problem.

I was coming up to my dock and the boat would not go into neutral and I checked the fluid and it is OK. The boat will crank up in gear and will stall out if I go to far in the reverse position.Any Ideas??
Thanks
Jerry
