you have to adjust the jack screws that are part of the tranny and motor mounts. I would leave the motor mounts alone to start with and just adjust the trany jackscrews to raise and lower the tail of the engine/transmission assembly. Do a search for prop shaft alignment on here and there was a lengthy procedure on how to do it.

My fault I guess, but I was told to remove it WITH the mounts. I keep learning the hard way. I know not to run it without it being in water. But with all the problems I've had, I only ran it in gear long enough to see if it would rotate since our nearest lake is 30 minutes away. It was about 10 seconds. But so how do I go about aligning the shaft? Do I have to pull the strut off to do this? Sorry if I'm an idiot, but I can't find instructions anywhere. |

if you remove the tranny with the mounts still attached then you did it wrong and need to re-align the shaft. You should have removed the tranny only and left all of the mounting hardware alone.
Never run the engine in gear in the driveway now you have damaged the strut bushings operating it with out water lubricating the bushings. |

I searched the archives about this but I'm still a little confused.
I just rebuilt my V-drive trans, with the mounts on it to keep it aligned, and re-installed it. I connected the prop shaft, started it, and I've got vibration at all rpm's. I can't run it long enough in the driveway to try to diagnose all angles, so what can I do? Do I need to pull the strut to align it better? There is no play in the strut with the shaft. There was no vibration before, and the trans was all I pulled out. Could it be a bad damper plate now? What will that hurt to run it like that? I don't want it to vibrate itself to another rebuild. Thanks for any help. |
