Tom,
My first thought was if the blower is running drawing current and the cables and or their terminations are bad causing resistance, there wouldn't be enough current available to pull the start relay (solenoid) in. Then with the blower off, there's enough to activate the relay and then with the high draw of the starter, I've seen where the cable terminals at the battery will arc just enough to get the current through to crank the engine. Yes on the old battery but do check cables and their terminals. Make sure you clean them with a wire type battery post/terminal cleaner. If you do get a new battery, no deep cycle. Just a starting and an automotive type is fine. |

No changes have been made that could be related. Good point about the fuse though. I am starting to think that the battery is getting too old (5 years) and probably marginal in output.

Tom,
Have any wiring changes/additions been done just before the problem started? How are your battery cables and their terminals? BTW, you do not have a short. That would pop a breaker or fuse. An "open" is a better term to use. |

On an 86 Silver Nautique- the starter will not engage while the blower motor is switched on. Boat cranks fine with blower turned off. I am assuming that there must be a short somewhere in the blower circuit. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?
