For my FB followers you might know im almost done with the skins and carpet replacement, but I owe you guys an update.
I will have it ready this week, hopefully will use it next weekend. I will update pictures soon. |

no updates lately here, but some progress, will post pictures later.
The guy doing the job is having a hard time removing the old carpet from the floor, Is it possible contact cement to stick more to epoxy resin? side wall carpet was removed without any issue but the floor carpet is severely difficult to pull out! Toluen is a cement glue remover, but can it affect the cured epoxy resin? I was considering usind the toluene to try to soften the old glue.... |

That carpet is the one I put 5years ago when I did the stringer. Local bs crap.
Im replacing it with Oem one I brought with the skins... |

Boat w/o upholstery, Took it to another marina to have the hull polishe, and to fix some chips and dents,
I ordered a new stereo system also. Bike is to return back to pick the car!

Mix equal parts with both the hardener and the resin before combining the two. That way you won't goof up the mix ratio. |

I have the epoxy resin and it hardener, Nad the Toluene.
So to use it I need to mix the toluene with the herdener , and them misx it up with the resin correct.? We are heving average 50º temperatures here, so this will slow down the curing process, or I need to change the mixing ratios? }o better raise the temperature to the 60º-65º |

I would definitely try the Toluene and maybe experiment a little. Sometimes, whether due to my mixing ratio or environmental variables, the Xylene mixture would feel kind of tacky/gummy when cured. Like the Xylene didn't evaporate off quick enough to allow the epoxy to cure to full hardness. It still was watertight so mission accomplished, but it wasn't quite the same as the Rot Doctor CPES.

Craig, Xylene and Toluene are very close with their solvency and evaporation rate. Xylene is just a tad bit slower than the Toluene. |

I thought Xylene was the solvent of choice for home brew CPES. I've used it before and had good results. Never tried acetone or anything else, so not saying those won't work.

note that the prior skin replacement I had, MF used regular staples, wich are pita to remove now as they are rusted, not a problem now as I will be using new wood!
Now I will have SS staples! |

Mix the acetone or for a slower mix toluene, with the resin and hardener first. Then when you are ready to use it, mix the two epoxy components. |

so the thinga started, still chasing some wood rot!
all my seat and coaming pad backing are shot! will need to fab new.    I will have neew wood cut and plan on coating it with the home brew CPES... about that its a 50/50 mix of epoxy resin and acetone? the resin has to be activated prior to mix it to the acetone? |

Well
after almost 2 years of having the skins stored at home, I decided to go ahead and have them installed. I will be replacing some of the foams in the worned seat cushions, and also replacing the carpet. I bought a 12 yard long x 8 ft wide carpet roll, it is supposed to be enough I hope for the whole boat. Now my question is how Im I supposed to lay it to make full profit of it? Tomorrow I´m taking pictures to show the before and after!! now the interior is completely shot! |
