"....battery wire".....I found this wiring diagram for the 1987. http://www.correctcraftfan.com/downloads/1987_dash.pdf Is the battery wire here shown here? Or are you talking about the large battery cable coming from the positive battery terminal? Thanks |

Tim, You'll never get it done since you only get snow and or ice down there every 4 years or so and then it only lasts for a couple days!! |

yep, that's the one. I would suggest that if you haven't replaced the battery wire, that may be part of your issue as well. use your VOM and check for a large resistance in the wire to tell you if it's not doing it's job anymore. |

The ground on these boats are notoriously weak. It is daisy chained from one thing to the next. There is a thread on here about wiring a better ground and power source. Read that one & what you are seeing will sound familiar.

I have noticed that when I turn on my nav lights... the ALT, Oil pressure and fuel gauge hands will all jump around like they have been shook real hard. They settle back down (on a reading higher than "normal"). Take for instance the oil pressure gauge... with the NAV lights off, it will read 40 psi... with them on, it will read like 50psi.
Is this a normal thing? I assume it is, I have just always wondered about it. My boat is a 1987 SN. Thanks |
