My filter assy is located by the front port motor mount attached to the stringer. Gotta believe it came that way from CC. My Century had a similar one located in that area.

OMC. I have an original parts catalog that covers many model number OMC 230 and 260 hp motors. Would be great for the reference section.

Fuel filter assy# 981065, element & gasket assy# 980925 and canister & gasket assy# 981031.

Likely true Pete, but not necessarily. Most likely he has a ford, but if it is the rare chevy, it probably had a canister separator/filter on the front of the block.

Mine was missing when I got the boat, but the bracket, which I didn't know its purpose was still there. Only years later, I saw another OMC with a canister filter on it. If I dig, I can find the holder and canister part numbers as I have looked into it for my boat, but never pulled the trigger

That's not standard equipment on a 76 so a PO has added it. What brand is it? Is it a cartridge or a screw on like an oil filter? A picture would be great.
