I should have a rudder and port. I will get back to you on Monday after I put my hands on it.

Thanks for the link. I have tried both rudders ss and stock and they don't work well. I'm ready to step up and replace the rudder and rudder port if I can find them at a reasonable price. any leads would be greatly appreciated

Both the ss home made rudder and the nibral replacement are 1-1/8"... And I'm *guessing the nibral replacement offers a handling improvement similar to the 11a, but I don't know if anyone has ever done that comparison back to back.

Scottz,
if you still have a spare rudder, I may be interested, I have a 176 and would like to change to the standard rudder, do you know if the one you have will work on the 176? If you still have it, how much would you sell it for?

Hey guys, thanks so much for all your help. We took off the strut so I could match it up but a local guy is confident he can straighten the rudder and strut. I'll post the results after. Hope to be in the water next week.

I think I'm currently out of rudders and struts. Certainly out of time to check and pull if not. Send your stuff to baitkiller. Love my prop guy but haven't had the need to do rudders and struts with him yet.

Doesn't sound that bad. Straighten them. There has to be a shop near you that can do it.   A CCFer in the Lakes area has got to know a good shop, failing that,Go on thehulltruth.com general boating forum and ask for a referral in your area. Failing that, fedex them to me and Ill have my guy do it pronto. He did Grant from the UKs strut a few years ago and it was pretzeled past what most would call even core value. My guy has a custom press designed specifically for strut repair. (really BIG struts) Joe in NY has got to know a good Northern shop, Zach? Professor? Hollywood? Can Delta do it? Call them.
But remember these things are soft, very soft and with a little red on your neck you can probably do them yourself. I have to straighten mine at least once a year. But I'm a special kind of snowflake.

Looking for a rudder and strut for my 81' Ski Nautique any help would be appreciated. My wife, kids and I are off for a week on the 27th and are praying that we'll be able to use our boat.

Took it into the marina on our lake to see if he could repack the shaft and rudder so it didn't take on so much water. He just called and informed us that the rudder is bent and so is the strut. When the wheel is turned water pours in and the shaft is almost rubbing on the hull on one side and has enough room you can put a finger between the hull on the other side. He said the only time he's seen one this bad is when one fell of a trailer at the launch. I just got the boat 2 years ago, after a lot of work in the engine compartment and electrical we got it wet late last summer. Have only used it twice this year. Can always be worse I guess, at least I haven't done the body and interior yet....

Thanks guys, feeling pretty bummed, hopefully you guys can help.
