Jeff,
Do plan on 5200 like Al mentioned ^^. There's no load on the bottom of the brackets screws can be used. They just keep the brackets vertical but so will the 5200. As Tim mentioned the transom is thick but I'd still suggest backer plates. Make sure they sit on a flat surface so there's no high spots that will cause a stress point. Some grinding may be needed and they too should be bedded in 5200. I'd go with bolts on the top. Yes, the tanks needs to be pulled. Use a teak oil finish (details can be found in a link in the FAQ thread) and not a clear 'hard" finish such as a poly. Teak or Ipe won't take a hard finish due to how oily the wood is. It will just peal off as you can see on this platform.

If the bottom screws or bolts are not accessible from the inside, just use 5200 with #10, #12, or #14 screws, or thread the fbrglass with 1/4" x 20 tap and also use 5200 in conjunction with your 1/4x20 stainless bolts or machine screws. I like the idea of at least a 5 or 6 inch block on the inside for the top bolts of at least 1/2" thickness.

Top bolts (inner/outer) just barely clear the floor iirc. Lower bolts are below the floor. My transom was pretty thick- I opted for fender washers instead of backing plates.

Thank you all for the help, now another question, as far as mounting the brackets to the hull, do the factory ones have bolts that go all the way thru the hull with nuts and a backer plate ? or are the just screwed into the hull. I think I'm gonna take my gass tank out and make some backer plates for the bolts and seal up the holes and use self locking nuts. Any help with this???

I like Larry's (75Tique) idea of marking it at rest in the water.....but do be mindful of the brackets which could make or break you. Ask Wayne Overby to snap a pic for you. "Ours" on the 78 rested in the same spot as TRBenj's above.... (makes sense as they both were 78's) but it was a broken down original platform which was later replaced with a reproduction from the CCFan Store... Great, stronger, thicker platform!
(which I didn't teak oil - BTW  )

?? Rope guide looks original to me... Same one was used from '74 through at least '78 (my platform and ladder-less '78 tique had the same).
My memory was right- I installed mine much higher than Pete after studying Tique factory platform placement.

The height of the brackets will dictate the height of the platform.
I would set the bottom of the bracket within a half to three quarters of an inch to the bottom of the boat |

Best bet. If you can, put the boat in the water. Either measure or mark the waterline with a grease pencil (Don't be sitting in the boat in the corner you are marking....obviously) Then make a determination where you want the platform with respect to the water. I put mine so the bottom of the platform sat right at the water level. Your preferences may vary.

Tim, Yes, the non original  platform was added but the non original transom graphics are in the same spot as they came from the factory. Remember when removing the boat name from the PO, the shadowing was bad to the point where wet sanding wouldn't remove it so I had to re gel the transom. But, the new non original transom graphics went back on in the exact same spot.

Petes platform was added after the fact, and the striping was redone- probably not the best data point (sorry Pete). I studied Tique platform placement thoroughly before installing one on my '78, I am fairly certain it ended up a little higher- possibly up to the stripe (or very close). I posted some pics in a dedicated thread when I did it, try a search.

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the dimensions from the bottom of the hull to top of the swim platform on a 1976 SKI TIQUE. My boat didn't come with one and i had one custom made. I also have the 3 stainless steel brackets . any help on installing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
