Prop shaft hull housing

It always helps to tell us what year,model you have. Are you talking about something like this-

All you should see on the hull bottom where the shaft exits, is a hole. Again, the shaft is not supported at the log. No rubber!

Try posting a picture again. Use the "post reply" and not the "quick" that's at the bottom of each thread. Click on the icon of the tree with the up arrow. A brose box will come up allowing you to select the picture off your computer.

The only component with 4 screws I can think of in that area is the actual shaft coupling where it bolts up to the trans. But, unless someone put a rubber "trans saver" on it, there's no rubber.

You'll need to be more specific regarding the chunk of rubber. The prop shaft runs through the hull log. On the log there's a rubber hose forward where the shaft stuffing gland is attached. The shaft isn't supported by rubber inside the log. Then at the aft end of the shaft near the prop, there's the strut that supports the shaft. Inside the strut, there's the cutlass bearing. It's typically a rubber lined "bearing". Which chink of rubber are you looking at?
