Todd,
Clicking on the down arrow next to the members screen name will bring up the member profile. It brings up items like real names and age if the member chooses to list them. Unlike some other sites with forums, CCfan members have a tendency to use first names. I do when given the option.

Pete, is your Tique painted?

Todd,
No, it has vinyl graphics. The PO put it on. Paint is on my list for a true restoration! Why do you ask?

IF this were my boat I'd keep it just the way it is. There is something about this one that makes it different. If the original owner says thats how it came and since there are pictures to prove it so be it. I know Pete won't agree but every '75 left is a run of the mill boat, something unique happened to this one along the way between the factory and the dealer and you need to be 110% sure before you change it back to a average Nautique.

You are correct.. Vinyl approach can do a mask as well.   For a number of reasons, I have decided on the vinyl as a first attempt. If it is not satisfactory, I wii go to the paint option.
I will lt yu guys know how it goes.
Thanks for everyone's wise counsel.

Todd,
If they can cut vinyl duplicating the original, then they can cut a paint mask. I strongly encourage you to paint the original graphics back onto the boat. With a mask, all that's done is the center )in this case the lettering) is removed and thrown away. The only difference is a different material is used for the mask.

The original was a "Stars and Stripes scheme. There seems to be multiple stories of the real history, so I am not sure. The stripes seem correct, but the "Ski Nautique is smailler. i think you can see a picture of the boat on this thread.
I will let everyone know how the vinyl approach vinyl works out.
Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Because I do not have the correct graphics to repaint I think I will try them.   Like you say, I can always paint later. Thanks!

Vinyl approach make very nice decals but that's what they are, decals. Miss applied, one dock rub or even water flowing over them can remove them. Try them you can always paint, I have trouble keeping no longer available factory decals on my boat----

Phil,
Wow! Thanks for the info. You won't believe this, but I found vinyl approach last week and ordered a set. I am waiting to see the quality before I post the info on CCF.
Thanks a million for all of your help.
Since we are almost neighbors, I have an opportunity for you to serve orphan, foster children, and children with special needs with your boat. It is called Skiin'with the Galilean. We do Lake Athens and Marble Falls. We have close to 700 kids for a total of 6 days in June. Check out swtgtx.org. If you are interested, let me know.
Thanks again,
Todd

Check out vinylapproach.com. Reproduction boat logos. At the bottom of the page is a list in alphabetical order. They show for correct craft 70's ski nautique boat logos " replacement for painted on.
Good luck and I hope to see you on the lake here in Jacksonville.

They were painted with Rustleum Paint from the factory. You will need to trace them and work with a sign shop to develop a Gerber Mask to make a template to reapply a stencil to repaint them. If you look in the reference section of this site, you will find some files on some graphics. For example, Allen has the files for his 1981 Ski Nautique which are not like your 1975 at all. If you had an 80- 81 you could take that file to a sign shop and have then print you a Gerber Mask. I have not looked at those files in a long time so you may want to see what is there. Hopefully, you have enough lettering to get a good trace of your old letters to reproduce. You will want to do it in paint. The hull in gel coat the letters in paint. Is always a good plan. To my knowledge, no one sells vinyl 1975 SN letters like you are looking for.

I am restoring a 1975 SN and I want to restore the original graphics on the hull. I have seen old post about some vinyl decals that have been created for the sides and transom, Does anyone have any contact information for any of these producers, if they are still available?
Thanks!
