I'm sorry to hear about your family's loss. It's hard to do but, don't be saddened by the loss but smile that Charlie made your lives whole.

Charlie was greeted by an awesome black lab/Aussie named Mary Lou.

Greg & Sue,

Writing through the tears. Rest assured Charlie will be "waiting on the dock" God speed old boy. To know the love of a good dog is to be truley blessed. Condolences.

Sorry to hear this Greg....we lost our 15 year old lab this past Spring and to make it worse we were out of town at the time and my poor in-laws had to handle it. Not being there at the end with such a loyal family member was the worse....wife was crushed.

Greg...Patti and I have you guys in our thoughts and prayers. But as you said...rescue works both ways. Charlie rescued you and Sue just as you guys rescued him. I know he had a life well lived.
The dogs on here are almost as well known as their owners. We all share the sadness when one of our numbers leaves to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

I can't even read these posts without looking next to me at my aging friends. I feel like I have been crushed a dozen times already in my life. I never make it more than a few months before i find another one that after 5 or 6 yrs i realize it is in many ways as good as the last one.. I'm very sorry for your loss .

Another of our four legged family members has gone to the land of endless boat rides and unlimited supply of tennis balls being thrown. Just another great thing about going to as many gatherings as you can. Our fellow CCFans dogs are almost as famous as their owners; loved by all who have the chance to pet, play, toss a ball or stick and get knocked over by them as they are excited by the ski weekend as we are. Sorry to hear the sad news about Charlie's passing but every pet owner knows. Our lives are much better because we had them as a trusted friend.........and they us!

When I was little, in Catechism a Nun asked all the kids "If you could ask God anything what would you ask". I said " Let dogs live a little longer" I'd ask the same question today.
Lots of times you can talk to your dog when you can't talk to anyone else.

Sue and I had to make one of the hardest trips in a long time yesterday as we had to say goodbye to Charlie our 13 1/2 year old Golden Retriever. Although he was 5 when we rescued him (or he rescued us?) he was without a doubt one of the best companions and truly loved everyone he met.
We will miss the big fella trollling the shoreline and giving warmth to Sue on those evening boat rides, or sneaking an early car ride to Bojangles for a Sunday morning biscuit.

As Kristin said, "if dogs don't go to heaven, I just want to go where they go. For your sake, I hope there are lots of boat rides and Bojangles Biscuits. Love you Charlie."

Keep watch over us Charlie and we will see you again.
