Pretty sure the pitot tubing is 1/8" (ID).

I measured the barb on an Airguide pitot. It's about .16 inches, so almost 3/16.
As far as cutting your shaft out, I don't know why everybody uses a sawzall, my favorite weapon of destruction for something like this is a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder with a 1/16 thick grinding wheel. Much faster, no more of a mess than the sawzall Elbert's will have the length on record. |

Thanks Keno for checking out the other post! I must be the only one that has happened to, and on the FIRST weekend I owned the boat :(...
I wanted to move my "repair" and product questions to the maintenance forum, not trying to create a bunch of posts. I did think 1/4" sounded too big... The boat is an hour away, so I'm trying to do my best to get what I need so I can blitzkrieg the thing when I am there. Should have removed one of the tube stubs in hindsight. Sorry for asking questions that could be easily be answered if I was at the boat, hopefully not frustrating you guys! My prior saga post On the docket right now (hopefully done in one day): - prop and strut are at delta prop for reconditioning, which is part of why I'm asking about the 4200 - going to order ARE shaft this week (I'm hoping Elbert's has the right length on file, bc the shaft is still in the boat)... I don't want to take any chances on fretting or straightness, and if I have to pull the shaft to check either, I'm not doing the heat coupler in oven thing. - going to order new packing for shaft and will probably do rudder at the same time - sawzall the old shaft out (Lennox bi metal blades and some cutting oil I'm assuming would do the trick) - do alignment, starting at strut - repair speedo tubing - replace bilge vent hoses Anyway, didn't meant to morph this post away form a question on the 3M stuff , just getting ramped up for pre-spring prep. |

1/4 is too big, why don't you measure what you have? Then you'll be sure to get the right size See your previous post with a picture of what the muskrats chewed previous post |

Thanks!!!
I feel rather inept, but I couldn't find any pitot tubing there... I did find some at west marine: https://www.westmarine.com/buy/sierra--speedometer-pitot-tubing--P006_183_001_527 Do does anyone know the approx ID of the tubing? Would a 1/4" barb do the trick for splicing? |

Paul,
Jamestown has the 3oz tubes The caulk gun cartridge will last about 2 months after it's opened but you would need to clean out cured product from the nozzle. Jamestown will also have the pitot tubing. |

I need some for reattaching my strut, may drop and redo rudder at same time.
Do any of you get the smaller 3oz tubes of the 4200? Where do you source it from? All I can seem to find on sites like amazon is the caulk gun version, which seems like overkill... If getting the caulk gun version, are any of you able to preserve the left overs? Also, I have some pitot tubing to fix, 4200 a good choice for sealing through the transom and or is there a better way to seal? Where do you guys get pitot tubing? |
