I have a good friend with an 04 / 05 211 and it is a great cross over boat and you can surf it. Will also pull two tubes or I have been told.
There is one on e-bay right now. |

My suggestion is to find a husband that skis, life is too short for anything less.
Seriously though, think I've heard the 210 is supposedly a good compromise, I couldnt imagine myself. One of the Malibu models on the Diamond hull gets amazing reviews on BOS but I'm not familiar with them. I also seen an ad about some device, I forget what it's called, but it suction cups onto the side hull of the boat to make a surf wave on any boat. I don't know. |

I think the 211's fit that purpose and price point. But if the focus is ski, a light loaded 206,baby!
Some folks (Cousin Donald, etc.) have made primitive NSS versions to make surfing a DD less of a pain. That's another option. |

My niece, her husband and 3 teen kids are looking for a "versatile" (i.e. ski/board/surf) boat. If money was no object, they have been looking at the "new" cross overs, 200 sport, GS2o, Malibu wakesetter 20 vtx, Mastercraft xt21. However, their budget does not allow for a new boat. I told her an older v-drive is going to be poor for skiing, but they really like the v-drive configuration because they are shooting for max seating - like for about 10. Their price (about 30k) puts them in the mid 2000s. They spotted a SAN which is fine, but as a v-drive probably a lousy ski boat. I told her about the 206, that I think would be an ideal boat, but i really dont know how surfable and it doesnt have the seating. I assume its is more than adequate for wakeboarding for weekend warriors. So, what would you suggest as the best 10-ish year old "crossover"?. Doesnt necessarily have to be a Nautique. She is the skier. Hubby and kids are boarders/surfers. She thinks she is the one to compromise and ski behind a v-drive. I told her they should compromise, in that a weekend warrior wakeboarder doesnt need a 3 foot wake. Surfing, I dont know. Can a direct drive be surfed without too much pain?

“So, how was your weekend?” “Well, let me see…sun burn, stiff neck, screwed up back, assorted aches and pains….yup, my weekend was great, thanks for asking.” |
