Well it was a week later but I finally did get my band on the sandbar. There were 60+ boats and everyone really enjoyed it.
https://www.facebook.com/scottcunningham/videos/10155388294520630/ I should coordinate better next year. |

Not to much to report from the Roar at Zoar get together this past weekend. We camped and floated a boat late Friday night. Cruised the lake and had dinner and drinks . There was a little rain. During the night heavy rain and many campers a little soggy in the morning but the sun did shine temporarily. Long enough to to dry us out and get us back on the water. When we ran to the location for the get together we found only Mark and Joe there and with the threat of rain they had decided to cancel the music and there were no others there so by around 12 I think they called it quits. We cruised the lake all day and salvaged it. Sunday was a fine day and we got some serious boating in. Sean and Denika, local residents some have met came out with thier boat and joined us. In the end we made a party for ourselves and had a nice weekend of it in spite of the marginal weather. Lake Zoar does have good potential for future get togethers as there are many miles of deep smooth water and numerous roap swings and places to stop and chill.

Been watching the weather, It's looking better than it was at the beginning of the week. We'll be out for sure on the sandbar. However, weather needs to be good if I drag along the band.

Excellent! Let's hope we get good weather. I'm bringing a dock, a generator and a band. Should be a good time!

Good friend just sent invites to their 1 year olds first birthday for 8/12.
If it were up to me I know where I'd be but my wife might see things differently. Will update once I confirm plans. |

Ok, the way my schedule's working it looks like the weekend of 8/12 is it. I hope a lot of people can make it. I am planning something cool, like live entertainment(music/band) on the sandbar on the water. ;-) It should be epic and quite the party.
For those looking to stay the weekend, there's camping at Kettletown State park and there are also hotels nearby.. Start letting people know in this thread if you are planning on coming, and we can start preparations to make the 2017 Roar on Zoar the best one yet! |

If I am reading this correctly it looks like possibly the last weekend in August? Another possibility may be last weekend in July?

Aug 5-6-12 are definite no go for me.
Anything else is good. Sunday 13th would be a lot of miles in one weekend but i could probably pull it off. |

Hmm, let's do this. if everyone that wants to go puts down the dates in August that they can't go. I'll try to pick a date where the majority can attend.

So the 21st there is a total eclipse that happens during the middle of the day. However CT isnt in the direct path of this so there will only be partial eclipse visible. But the path goes down towards the carolinas for us east coast guys. Depending where i am geographically i plan on being on the boat for viewing that. Maybe zoar for a couple extra days would be a little better than the trip to the carolinas.
For those who are not familiar total eclipse during the day means it turns to full darkness for a few minutes or more depending on location. Stars come out, everything, next time it will happen over the US will be 2024. If we plan for the 20th again it will save me a lot of gas money but ill be there just about any daye except the 5th to th e 13th |
