Using the old boxes as patterns is what I am leaning towards. I have those handy and I have the materials to make them. Always like to entertain all options, though. Next thing will be what parts to get to mate the box to the actual seat. I see a lot of options out there!
I decided to go with a snap on custom cover sourced locally. I haven't found any information that was consistent enough to be reliable for our breed of boat to purchase online. Pricing isn't even all that different! I love the idea of original... but, this boat isn't original. Lol. Bought it with a tower. We love having the tower. The boat is older than I! Unfortunately for me, this is my price range for a boat to wakeboard, surf, tube, ski, etc. A new G isn't quite in the budget, lol. So, we will bolt on our add-ons to play. Even have some EVA foam flooring that is going in this summer instead of the traditional carpet. Maybe someday a project will come along that will be a perfect candidate for all original. Fingers crossed the lady will allow for two boats at that time! ![]() Thanks for the info! Your Martinique looks great! |

Seat Bases: I just used the old seat bases as patterns for the news ones. I have used pedestals in the past, but, I wanted to keep it original (there is some guy on this site that is always grousing about keeping it original, so I did), and the drawers in the existing base design come in very handy.
Cover: I did buy a cover online for ~$100. It was a second quality due to a color blem issue, but I hardly ever use it as I use an in/out service and the boat is stored indoors. Bimini: I never did buy a bimini, but it is on the wish list. I have priced them locally for ~$350-$400. |

I am redoing a couple interior pieces for winter projects. Currently working on seat bases/boxes. I have seen some in the past where people have used pedestals to put the observer seat on instead of redoing the boxes. What did you do for yours? Very interested in all options.
Also, did you ever get a cover for this? I am looking at getting a bimini top for the tower on mine and travel cover as well. We have some local Amish guys that do a good job for canvas covers at reasonable prices. Thanks for the info! |

Not sure about the flag law, but, it is very nice not to need a spotter in Wisconsin. The driver and the skier is all you need,..... and a good ski mirror. I have not heard anything about a flag being required. Been wondering about that, but the law hasn't said anything to me...yet.
I have done a fair amount of work to the boat since the original post....new carpet, new seat bases, got the steering cable working smoothly, installed LED lighting, new plywood where needed. Love this boat. Perfect for our needs. |

Here is mine! This picture is from the last owner. I will have to get some recent ones uploaded onto the computer. 1988 Martinique B/R with the 454 engine. Currently in the heated garage getting some winter repairs and upgrades. Love the boat for the power and for all the room. Would love it if anyone had any additional information to share on these years/model.
Thanks! |

Spotted a pretty rare CC on the lake yesterday. It was THE Red Paragon. I chatted with the owner for awhile. He mentioned that there were 11 Paragons made. 10 were green, and one was red. So, the old Martinique was breathing some pretty rarified air being parked next to this boat. From what I heard, it may have ties to CCF as well (Quinner was PO!?).

Took the boat out for the first run after cleaning it, and taking care of a few odds & ends. Ran great! Very happy with the purchase. The tight steering cable started to loosen up with use. Thought you guys might enjoy some pictures of the boats stable mates at the storage yard. A very large Chris Craft, and an old Century, with a Ski Supreme thrown in for good measure.
Also, the Antique/Classic Boat Show is coming up next weekend at The Abbey in Fontana on Lake Geneva, WI. Always a great show with MANY impressive wooden, and early fiberglass boats. |

Thanks Dave! It's good to be part of team blue. However, I do like red, so I am not giving up on finding a way in to "team red" There must be a way..... I'll even take an honorary membership!
![]() ![]() Look what I found on this site. My boat already has a Diary. I bought the boat from the guy who bought from the gent that put the diary on here. I've been reading through some of his posts. Nice to know some of the history and issues with the boat. http://www.correctcraftfan.com/diaries/details.asp?ID=4691&sort=&pagenum=2 |

Found a nice B-I Fly-Hi Pole in the ski locker. Looks to be just under 6' tall. Any interest out there in a this? My high flying pole days are over.
But, I'm keeping the crappy tube that came with the deal! ![]() Prop turned out to be a 542. |

I think you've done great Dave, I was going to ask if you needed a spare rim but it looks like your all set👍Nice trailer too. Angola Canvas will most likely have your pattern on file, they after all supplied MidWest Correct Craft. Check their web site they have a list. It will be a "custom" fit with out the custom price.
That said I do have a black Westland cover that I got a great deal on from a member here and it fits almost perfect. The down side is that it turns the vinyl black from it rubbing on it. Great for an overnight cover when we're out but not long term. |

Here are a few pictures of the boat. It's in pretty decent shape. Just needs a good detailing. Also I see that is has an Acme prop on it. A nice surprise. I hope it's a 542 vs. a 540 for a boat this heavy. Need to clean it off to see. This boat also has two large tracking fins on it. That is pretty cool. Wasn't expecting that.
I need to get a good cover for it. I'd like to hear your opinions on the best way to go.....1.) Custom made locally, or 2.) mail order ie...Covers for Ski Boats has one for the Martinique. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yes the DMV will do the trailer and squeeze you for tax,the DNR will do title and boat registration and squeeze you for the tax on that. Next time I see you I'll tell you the story of waiting 4 years before titling my trailer and the hoops I had to jump through. Luckily N3 helped out.

Sharp boat.
You do need a title. Boat through dept of natural resources and trailer through dept of motor vehicles. |

I think you're right Gary. I think she meant that the DMV only titles trailers. I bet the DNR takes care of the boats. It's been almost 10 years since I bought my last boat, and I thought I had to get a title for it.

Well I have not bought in a few years and I doubt Illinois would give up any form or revenue. I think you better check with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources they are the ones who did title and for sure get your registration from

I found it in the Fort Atkinson/Whitewater, WI area. If all goes to plan I should be picking it up tomorrow.
Didn't IL used to title boats? I stopped at the DMV today in Woodstock and they said IL only titles trailers. Does that sound right? I wonder if IL stopped titling boats recently? |

Nice looking Rivi Patrick! It wouldn't surprise me that only 13 were made, although it does seem low. I think the cuddy version was pretty rare. There was a straight closed bow version too. The Martinique open bow was the higher volume boat in this series. Whenever I see an 80's Celebrity stern drive on the lakes, the lines look very similar to these CC boats. Boat design has changed so much in just 30 short years.
I found out today my boat came from Calhoun County, Michigan (east of Kalamazoo/Battle Creek). The current owner is giving me a whole Correct Craft 3 ring binder full of info, and details on the boats history. It was ~$17,500 when purchased new in FL, by a doctor from Michigan. |

David,
Great find, but NO TO TEAM RED with just a key float. Sorry, but we must maintain standards and not dumb Team Red down. Not everyone gets a trophy. ![]() She is beautiful. Donald |

Thanks Gary! Hope to bring it home Monday. The only thing it is missing is anything red on it, except the key float. Does that count for "team red"?
![]() I'm thinking about keeping it at Port Barrington across from the Broken Oar. We will have to take a cruise. |
