I want to thank every one for their replies. I purchased a case of Kendall 20-20w oil to use for future transmission oil changes. I had been using Valvoline straight 20w. But it is no longer available. Hopefully the Kendall oil will not cause any problems.

Having a V Drive I never noticed any transmission whine or any noise out of it at all But in spending some time in the back seat I am surprised how loud the intake is. I don't know if other gt40's whistle like that but it does not stop until it gets up to the speed you wanted.

It was supposed to fix the infamous whine the 1.23's were/are known for, but I don't think it did.

They also had a buzz that had a fix that was a 10 inch or so hose.

The buzz and the whine were different.

I do remember in my younger days I could get a buzz from some wine though

Mad Dog 20-20 was cheap and effective

Why did PCM change it? Didn't they have a vibration problem or something early on and thinking that would fix it?

I'd still change to atf due to cost and availability.

But he doesn't want to

Sounds like a case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" in his case

20w = 20w20

I'd still change to atf due to cost and availability.

The PCM manual I just looked at shows the 20-20W as the preferred oil back when that manual was printed. It's an old manual from before the recommendation became ATF

That matches what you can find so it shouldn't be an issue.

I have a 1990 Sport Nautique that I purchased new. It came with 20w oil for transmission fluid. I have only been able to find 20-20w oil for it. I can not find 20w oil. Can I use the 20-20w oil in the transmission? I know that PCM said you should change to Dexron III. But that requires several flushes to get all of the oil out of the transmission. I have been happy with the oil in the transmission. Not sure I want to flush the transmission three times to get the oil out.
