Long over due update. Sent damaged strut to be repaired. In the meantime, z3tyger contacted me with a 6DV in perfect condition. Super nice guy. Repaired strut came back a few degrees off. It makes a nice paperweight and could possibly be used as backup if z3’s is the last one on earth. z3’s strut is on the boat and I’ve had a couple of great seasons with it. If there are any other nice 6DV’s out there, I’d be interested.
Sincere thanks everyone for all of your help. |

Pete, big thanks for another contact. Fox Lake didn’t answer their phone or return my call today. I’ll try again next week.
z3tyger- thank you. If I have no luck with repair, I’ll get with you. |

I have a strut, shaft, coupler and rudder from a 1973 16’ mustang. I do not have the parts at my house and cannot confirm any identifying marks on the strut. the rudder is a 27A. If interested, I can send the pics I do have and confirm measurements tomorrow

Richard,
Before you ship the strut out, I suggest looking for welding/fabricating shops. If no luck, I would sent it to Crow Custom Cast I know several ACBS members and a CCfan member who had them do work and the results were fantastic. |

Repair is the focus now. I visited Indy Prop Shop this morning and the owner said he is not comfortable repairing a strut.
Hollywood contacted me and recommended Fox Lake Propeller in I’ll. I left a message on their voice mail and hope to hear back soon. |

Gary, Interesting indeed! I feel they will have the same results as Watercraft which was zero! Per Ryan, CC has a hard time with current parts! Richard, Watercraft's first CC sold was a 1949 Correct Craft Junior. Get your existing strut repaired. |

6a6 doesn’t have the wide base, I’m sure it’s not the right option.
Pete, if you go back to Watercraft measuring struts, grab the dimensions off the S14mod and S19mod (both 1-1/8”) struts for me! |

It will be interesting what the factory comes up with. That list that Pete provided above was given to Zach who was formally at N3 by Bruce who was at Mid West Correct Craft and is now at the factory. There won't be anyone at the factory anymore that knows more than him, I would expect he still uses the same info. |

Did you or Boatland talk with the shop? Per Indy Prop Shop's website, they have a complete machine shop so they may be a good one to contact. Plus, it also sounds like they have been around for more than 40 years so I'd say in that time they've run across a strut or two? |

Richard,
The 6A6 has a aft end drop of 5" and a shaft angle of 15 degrees. There's a reason CC used the 6DV!! Unless Boatland is willing to modify your hull to fit a different strut, I highly recommend you get some measurements off your existing 6DV and compare them to the measurements I posted of the S141 and the 6A6. |

Hollywood, thanks. If the 6A6 ends up being my best option, I’ll take it. I’ll check with White Lake and N3 today.
White Lake was going to verify the 6A6 option with the factory. |

Richard, I went to Watercraft to get the dimensions. The ones I posted above are for the S141. |

Hello everyone. Thanks for your continued interest in my strut situation.
Pete, I really appreciate you taking the time at Watercraft. Ryan, will you send dimensions on the s141? Mark at N3 has promised to look through stock and get back with me. White Lake says that a 6A6 is a possibility but the mounting holes are different. Boatland winter stores my boats. I thought if I found a strut, they could check the shaft and wrap it up this winter. I use an old school boat mechanic for everything else. N3 will get my business as well. One prop shop down, one more to check. |

Hey, I've sure seen you go off on long information posts too! Yes, I had some time today plus I hadn't been over to Watercraft for some time and wanted to see what was going on! BTW, we had just enough snow this morning that needed some slight shoveling! |

Richard,
I had some time so I went over to Watercraft and took a look at the S-141 strut. Beside the base dimensions that you already have, the key dimensions are the aft drop which is 6.0937", the bore angle to the base is 12 degrees and the length through the bore is 6". To clarify "aft drop", the 6.0937" is from the center line of the prop shaft to the bottom of the base at the aft end of the strut. Also, if you don't have any luck finding the strut, you may want to take a look at this Buck Algonquin strut I also just called Ryan (he wasn't in when I was over at Watercraft) and he's willing to work with you on the no return policy. Have you taken your strut to a prop shop for an opinion on a repair? I know there are some stress cracks on the one side but it's possible they could braze them.? I've seen some pretty mangled up props that a good prop shop can do wonders with! |

Hi Moody,
The no return policy is on the parts that are listed on Ebay. Of course like every rule there are always exceptions and we can certainly work out a deal if wasn't the right one. That being said, I believe the s141 is a nautique part number, I would have to verify which boat it is for. I have a 79 ski nautique that has the strut in it still, but that doesn't appear that it will work for you. We have a customer with an older barracuda that he isn't wanting to put any more money into. He would probably sell it as a parts boat. I can check into that, but that also doesn't appear to be the strut you need. I can take some measurements off the s141 strut we have here and see if that will work for you. Let me know what we can do to help. Best Regards, Ryan Lamon 715-367-0539 cell Watercraft Sales |

Richard, Did you call Watercraft? If so, what did they say? I can run over there if needed. Did Mark at N3 find a strut for you? I'm curious as to why N3 isn't working on your boat. I found Boatland's site and they seem to be oriented to pontoons, I/O's and outboards. |

Boatland Marine Service in Indianapolis fully capable of handling my situation. The parts manager suggested that if I found the strut, it would be much less expensive than if they did. I really appreciated that advise.

Richard, Hopefully they are familiar with inboards and not outboard and I/O oriented. I ask because why aren't they getting the strut? Get us the shaft results after they get some readings with the dial indicator. |

You CAN NOT go by mounting holes on a strut as they are NOT accurately drilled. Height to the center of the bore and the bore angle are the key dimensions. |
