Finished ceiling in my garage, and the kayaks are hanging in there also. I am thinking wall storage might be a better Idea for me, but I'll have to go check out the dowel from hooks possibilities... Hmmm... |

I don’t know about you guys but when I’m done skiing my ski lays on the couch with me. Then 8:30 it goes to bed with me. 5:30 it joins me at the breakfast table. When I go to work I buckle it in snug in the passenger seat. You get the point.
In all seriousness I’ve lined my garage ceiling with 2x4 then I hang my enourmous collection of hunting climbers from that via bike hooks. I also hang my Bimini tops that way because they’re always a PIA to store. Coolers, Turkey fryers and life jackets get stored this way. |

I don't have any pics from our old place (and haven't set up the new place yet). I'm interested in what others have done, maybe I can incorporate them in my new space.
But, here is what I did: 8' hand rail with 8" screws to attach to garage rafters to hang all PFDs, wetsuits, and anything else that fits. I left spaces between PFDs for more air circulation For ski's/wakeboards, I attached eye hooks at 12-15" apart for wakeboards and 7-10" apart for skis across two rafters, then tied poly cord (separate cords for each piece of gear) and let them rest upside down from the cords mid-tip/mid-tail. Ropes, mooring lines, etc I have a few hooks and make bigger loops and let them hang until dry, then I daisy chain them and put them back in the boat. Most of the equipment is hanging just outside the gunwale of the boat on either side so the water drips to the floor. The PFDs were in a separate space by the Kayaks since we had those before the Sport. |

Unfortunately, I don't, am about the same as you. After coming back from skiing everything ends up draped around the boat, hooked to cleats etc. I've had a wall rack for vests before, that works fine as long as the hooks or rods you hang stuff on extends enough to not have to plaster them against the wall for them to stay.
So, I'd be interested in the answers to this as well. |

I've been so busy working on the inside of my house that I haven't spent any time organizing my garage, and boating gear. We have a big garage space, the boat space is 12' x 30' but without any organization, gear gets stacked in the corners, or remains in the boat for safe keeping, then has to be moved around every time I want to do anything, it seems. Do you guys have a good way to store life jackets, wakeboards, water ski's etc so they are easy to get to and reasonably organized, and can get some air movement for drying? I'd love to see some photo's and recommendations
