If on the stringers/ or over a wooden reinforcement pad, if on the hull itself I would worry less, sometimes they just put on the gel pretty thick to cover fiberglass imperfections and it is then prone to cracking. |

Brian,
I agree with Paul that the coating is cosmetic but, if it's cracking and peeling then I would suspect things below it are not in good condition. |

Cosmetic
Grind it off and coat with the product of your choice. 3M 24 grit 4” grinding disc work well. |

'81 SN, the grayish lumpy bilge finish....cosmetic only?
