Shackleton was trying to reach the south pole. Really interesting read, even if you just do a Wikipedia read it's an amazing story.

I believe I read that book also. Those men were beyond tough. All to say they were first to reach the North Pole. Was it Shackelford's excursion?

I recently read (well actually listened to....benefits of a crazy long commute) about a late 1800s mission to reach the north pole. The ship became locked in the ice flows in October 1879 and did not get free until May 1881. They actually had provisions to ride it out that long. Did not end well tho. When it finally broke loose from the ice, it got crushed in the ice flows. The crew of 33 started toward mainland siberia either by floating in or dragging 3 life boats across expanses of ice. One crew was lost at sea. One crew made it and all survived and the third crew, including the captain, made it to the mainland but all but 2 men froze/starved to death. Lovely trip. But sounds kind of like Pete's winters.

Remove battery.
Might be helpful to make a list of things done for storage, so you know what to do at wake up time.
Probably install new rwp impeller at start-up.
Stuff like that.

Spraying some fogging oil in the cylinders sure wouldn't be a bad idea either. Whenever you get in the boat also crank the wheel back / forth a few times, this can help keep the steering cable from seizing or losing it's lube.

Yea and it looks like you might have to pass this year too That day of summer,August 3, looks iffy....

For what it is worth, I drain my tanks for long term. If your worried about condensation in your tank that is the least of your troubles. The engine,trans,interior will condensate too,think about storage where the temp does not swing as bad or not as damp.

Thank You for the input. And the info on the fuel makes sense. Will definitely add more stabilizer and maybe even siphon off some so at start up next year can add some fresh.
As for where, it is unfortunately outside. I do have a decent Travel Tarp on it, then for the winter we add a heavy Poly Tarp to help shed the snow in the winter months. I have thought of shrink wrapping it, but there are a few things that I would like to tinker with over the summer, so next year we can just hit the water!! So maybe just shrink wrap once the fall comes.

Nah, it won't hurt it to sit another year. The fuel isn't going to be stellar after sitting another year, however. There's some debate about full vs. near empty for long term storage. But if it were ME, I'd siphon some of that fuel out so you could mix in some fresh before starting it up whenever you do that. Whether that's now or later, that's debatable.

There's really very little to be concerned about, though. Where is it stored? (e.g. garage, barn, shrink wrapped?)

Last October we had our 1980 Ski Nautique Winterized by a Certified Nautique Mechanic(Oil Changed, Full Fuel Tank with Stabilizer, and Anti Freeze Run Through the entire engine) and we put it away for the winter.
Unfortunately over the winter our family situation has changed and it is looking like we won't be able to get on the water this year. So my question is, do we run the potential of damaging anything if we leave it till next year when we know that we will be able to get lots of use out of it.
