We park it in front of our shop and get lots of lookers, 1-2 that have been kind of serious, but no takers.
Just hate to see it not being used. |

Mike, I see you still have it listed at $9500 OBO. Have you had anyone look at the Atom and the restomods you did? |

Pete; Don't I know it... Stem is now removed and re-located to my house, as well as a few other "structural" pieces that need to be recreated. I am hoping that having them "at home" will promote their attention...
Unfortunately, when I winterized Dad's boat - we used it once for a family reunion on the river, the oil came out milk shake... I did check all the cylinders and they were dry as a bone, so that is another project on the list. I am hoping it is just the manifolds, but won't know til I tear into it - if it was catastrophic, well then the 312 out of CaptnMike's Atom could be re-purposed, and I could drop the FireBall or the 60 Hp Gray in that Atom, leaving me the other motor for my atom. Then I just have to find a third and eventually I could gift each of my girls with their very own Atom Skier. Yep, I have clearly lost my mind... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Steve, Keep in mind that the longer later Atoms got the V8's and the earlier shorter Atoms got the 4 cylinders. BTW, you have a few things to do first before you drop an engine in her! ![]()

Tempted... I may need a recently restored 312 Yblock, and I have a 60 Hp Grays, that I could drop in. On the other hand, just how fast did this little overpowered Atom run at Tavares???

I wish I could hide the receipts..... but she loans me the money. She gives me a family discounted rate.
![]() I need to start a thread for the AT Skier..... since I am farming out all of the restorations now, I have been bad about putting it all together for a post. I did swap the steering wheel resto for some dog cosmetic surgery. ![]() |

So Gary, I'm not supposed to tell you that prominent maker of Aluminum marine manifolds who recently moved their operations overseas wanted a minimum of $-------- to build new manifolds? So much for the online community to share knowledge and find online resources. I thought we didn't share rebuild costs because we are all cheapskates and we value a deal above all else.

First off Steve, never, I repeat never post any prices on a project- you may end up paying twice if you get my drift
![]() Second is you'll forget the price the first time you drive it,it's tough now because all you have are the bills. I'm guessing you have never driven it ? |

Steve,
At least you didn't have the extreme burden of restoring the Hathor The Lathrop 115-6 got very involved. Larry ended up needing a pattern maker for the engine jugs, a foundry to cast them and then a good machine shop to finish them. |

Crow rebuilt the manifolds and re-created the rusted mixers. They look amazing! But his estimating skills are non-existent. I could NEVER get an estimate, gestimate or rough figure at any step of the way. Since he's the only show in town, I was stuck with a surprise at the end. I only say that to prepare others - not to quarrel with his work. It was a shame that his lack of preparing his customer for a large bill sours the interaction with him as he is certainly a great craftsman.

Steve,
Yes, restoration can and typically does come down to being expensive but when an item is no longer available rebuilding or even making something from scratch is the only option. Crow sure does nice work. |

Pete - just had Crow rebuild the Buick 300 Manifolds and mixers to the tune of $X,XXX.xx/side with shipping. Tore my heart out AND emptied my wallet! They are beautiful, but whoa! |

And if it comes down to needing exhaust manifolds, the originals can be rebuilt like new or better. |

Mike,
Before you go and pull the original engine, why don't you run ads in the publications I mentioned. (Classic Boating, Woody Boater and the ACBS Rudder) As mentioned, Ebay is not the place to sell a classic wood boat. |

People do run them on the ocean. I have a friend that rebuilt an Interceptor 292 last year for a guy on Narragansett Bay in RI and he is currently rebuilding another one for a Correct Craft that is on the ocean in Downeast Maine. Both boats supposedly have been run in those locations for a long time.

Two types of typical correctcraftfans around here - watersports guys looking to get into relatively cost effective tow boats, and do it yourself boat builder types who are looking to find cheap restorable boats and work on them themselves. Mostly we are all cheap skates who would spend time on the internet learning about boats so we can work on them ourselves. You are looking more for a buyer than a builder. The buyer you are looking for is one that places a premium on usability - I still think the boat is well priced it would probably sell up here on craigslist with the proper ad. Down there I am not familiar with. Putting in a different engine and getting some use out of it isn't the worst idea I've heard but it would still be hard to get out of that engine anything near what you put into it. |

I'm not 100% sure.
If there are no "Correct Craft Fans" who are interested, who ever would be? My biggest fear is someone will buy it for the engine and junk the boat. B7ME Ford Y-blocks are a rare engine. It can used as a service replacement on early Thunderbirds. I found a closed cooled V6 on local Craigslist, I may swap out the engine and use the boat. The aluminum Intercept parts are too rare to use the engine here in saltwater. |

Mike,
I see you struck out on Ebay for the 3rd time with zero bids. Are you an ACBS member? If so, you can run an ad in the Rudder besides the two spots I mentioned before.
Have you tried other spots? |

It just might - IMHO it is well priced for what it is - no they aren't rare high end boats but its well restored, and completely usable. If you bring it up to Skaneateles in July you can stay with me... not on Skaneateles lake of course they don't let my kind in there but I snuck in one lake over. |
