I got my new brackets from Mike on Saturday. Great quality product, great fit between between the bracket and the mounting piece. Well worth the money.
FYI...I sent him my original brackets so ensure the angles were 100% correct. |

I just emailed Mike tonight using the contact info in this thread. I have all winter to get my new platform brackets, so hopefully that is enough time!
I'll update when I hear back. |

Yeah I tried both. Fricking brackets are holding me up from putting this thing back together and getting my garage back.

I believe it was $36 per board foot for board up 10” wide and up to 10’ long. Wider and longer board then go up to $42 per board foot.

I removed my old brackets last week and mailed them to Mike, he is going to use them as a template to make new removeavle ones. He recommended this to ensure the angles are the same.
I also picked up some real from my local saw mill yesterday. I got enough (which isn’t much) to remake my platform for just under $300. It will be a winter project for me. I’ll post some pictures when I get started. I was surprised at the selection of teak they had available. |

I think Mike is the only one in the company so he's slow to respond but once you're in contact with him, it's about a 2-week turnaround. I've listed pricing below for when i ordered mine last year. I ordered 3 brackets but ended up not installing the middle bracket so if you want it then let me know.
Bracket Arm----------------------------------$ 89.31 each Transom Plate-------------------------------$47.31 each Backing plates-------------------------------$0.00 each |

Hey gang, I am a big fan of IPE and have worked with it for a long time in various applications....decked my permanent dock, house decks, patio furniture, etc...you just can't beat it in a number of applications. BUT it's HEAVY, as it's the most dense.
IPE will ding you 63-75 lbs/ft3. In comparison, Jotoba comes in at 57lbs/ft3 and Teak at 41 lbs/ft3 Give it some thought before you hang a platform on the back of a slalom boat that weights nearly twice what a teak platform would weight... Do the math and look at the weights. Ultra... back to boat-hunting... |

Quote "Kills me to see old boats with after market platforms done when there is little thought to it and they look like ski jumps on the back of boats." I have to say, my platform looks very authentic. I think it looks identical to the original platform. |

Susan,
Thank you for the information. Looking at your profile, your boat is a lot like mine. Ours has been in the family since my father in-law purchased it new in ‘77. |

I believe they custom make every order, so you should be able to order the correct rise angle to match the "slope" of the transom to get your platform perfectly horizontal. Use their swing/rise form/guidance when ordering. I say that, and am absolutely (almost) certain I gave them a correct rise angle for my boat and it still came through a little off and I had a slope to my platform. (see my avatar photo, I subsequently fixed it) I did what Susan said and make an angled jig and routered out a ramp in the bottom of the platform to get it level. But like I said, they should be able to make the rise angle you need. Kills me to see old boats with after market platforms done when there is little thought to it and they look like ski jumps on the back of boats. |

They come without holes- you need to drill yourself.

With the help of CCF, I had a new teak wood swim platform made for our 1978 Ski Tique, Correct Craft. I "think the '77) is the same boat - but these guys will know for sure. Allow me to share…
I bought the platform from Teak World (information below) last September and it looks great! It comes with 3 coats of oil. $500 + shipping. I sent him pictures of what I wanted. They have the required angle for the boat but make sure you tell them how many slots you want (you don’t want it too long for a Ski Tique). Also, request a slight taper (about 2”) on each side so that the platform gets narrower as you go back. This helps avoid the ski rope catching on the corner of the platform. For the brackets – Alloy Marine is the way to go. He’ll talk to you initially but the only way to communicate with him moving forward is by email. Have patience, but he knows what you need for your boat. I ordered a 3-bracket system with no-hole transom plates; 97 degree rise/15 degree swing for the 2 outside brackets and the middle bracket with no swing. It was the perfect match for my boat but I actually didn’t need the middle bracket so I’ve got one if you need one at a discount! Order 3 backing plates if you don’t already have them on the boat. • When you install the platform, keep in mind that the brackets have a rise angle over 5 degrees so you’ll need to notch the swim deck wood a bit so the bracket sits flat • Use stainless steel hardware for the transom brackets. Maybe a hex nut stud bolt. I’m strongly considering putting removable platform bracket on my 76 SN but don’t want a new set of holes in the transom. What’s the chances of holes lining up? Guess I could call and inquire about a set without holes and drill myself.

The fully assembled Teak platform (to my specs) from Teak World was similar in price as the ipe and jatoba that I had priced out locally back when I was looking in 2009. No brainer.
Alloy has a terrible book keeping system- they couldn’t tell me which model I needed for the Tique without measuring... they had the proper model patterned and available but did not know what boats it fit (they had it marked as a 70’s SN which has very different rise angle). Took a chance and got the right ones for the boat, and gave them feedback so they could update their application notes. They never did so you may have to go through the same song and dance. |

Thanks for the information. I know the Teak they have is old material and has been around in their storage barn for quite a long time. I will look into Ipe and see what I can find. I would prefer to make my own platform, so the lower cost wood will help make that possible.
I may have some more Ski Tique questions for you as I move forward with my restoration this winter. Still in need of a mirror and possible some gauges. |

Steve, The Teak has been banned from import for several years so the price is way high. The only Teak sold to my knowledge is from existing stock and reclaim. Jatoba and Ipe are both fantastic replacements and in many ways even better than Teak. I suggest you look at Ipe. It's a very common high end decking typically available in 5/4 x 6". Go to your local HD and inquire about it at the Pro Desk. |

I priced Teak from a local lumber supplier. I could probably make it more cost effective by purchasing rough sawn and milking it myself.

I got a set for my 76 Tique here.
Alloy Marine May have been this model, but if you scroll down, you will see a similar model. You will have to give them your rise and swing spec to match your boat and platform. |

Thanks for the link. I was planning to build my own platform but based on the price of the wood, it would be nearly the same price and purchasing one.
I didn’t see anything on brackets or if there is a preferred quick removal type of bracket for the Tique. |
