I was thinking I may have to leave that center section at home from now on.
I have stepped on the side seats myself many times. The way it is designed the seat is very weak right where mine broke. Since it is Summer and a great time to use the boat I went with the fastest fix and not the best fix. I think it is at least as good as the factory seat. |

My 1994 looks similar. I almost never utilize the center cushion on the rear seat -- for this very reason. I don't want rookie boaters stepping on the vinyl. The carpet step under the center cushion is designed for that! JQ |

I can't say Pete, they had a name brand it was something with Marine in the name.
Sorry, I was happy to find a piece and get it back together. |

Is it HDPE or the cellular PVC? |

Took out the 200 or so staples and rebuild my seat. Tap Plastics had the replacement plastic sheeting in 1/2 inch in stock. $40 for a 16 x 24" piece.
A lot of cutting and shaping to get the size correct and then the install. Boat is good as new again. I think the hardest part was trying to align the hinges Took a while to find the right location so all the seat lines looked right with the other rear seats. Tap Plastics claimed their material is stronger than the Factory Correct Craft Material. It is thicker. Measured .520 while the factory board was only .460. |

When I get it apart I will consider making one out of fiberglass as a replacement.
At 1/2 inch thick I believe it would be strong enough to jump up and down if desired without fracture. |

Looks like cellular white pvc and I understand CC used it for seat bottoms.

Thanks for the advice, I did find the staples hidden in the seams of the Welting, edge of the seat cover. I imagine the staples are stainless, Ill have to find some to fit my T50 staple gun. I think I feel a broken support in the seat. I'll have to strip it and see about a repair piece. Anyone make one out of fiberglass?

It could have flexed and stripped the screw out but if I were a betting man I would bet it’s cracked.
I cracked the front corner of the observer seat tried everything to fix it ended up getting a new board and and swapped the skin. Not a hard job. Not sure what it is my calling it foam board is probably incorrect friend of mine is a sign maker and got me a new piece. It’s really light guess that’s why I referred to it as foam board. This is a side view of the cracked piece |

Mine are original, have not been opened up before.
It appears a screw in an aluminum brace has stripped out letting the seat brace pop through the seat material. It looks sewn but I am guessing there are staples or screws hidden that hold the seat cover on? |

My seat bases are solid 3/4" HDPE, but they've been re-skinned. I assumed they were all made like that. I guess they remade the bases when they installed the new skins? Well, they seem very solid - don't think they would need an extra support, even for 255 lbs.

I was with two guys, one 6"3 and 255 one 5'8" and 200.
I am 5'10" and 195 so I guess we could all be guilty. I had no idea the seats were fragile. I was hoping for an easy fix from those that have been there before. |

I don’t think I know someone stepped down from the side/back and broke it.
Strip it and get a new piece of the plastic foam board. PS; tell people “IT’S A SEAT NOT A STEP” |

We had our 95 Ski Nautique out this weekend and cleaning up last night I found the rear seat, part of the three section lift up seats has broken and the aluminum support has torn out of the seat bottom. Is this common or are there established repair advice on this.
There is a screw in the part that has broken down and torn the material. The screw does not screw back up into place. I think someone stepped on this seat and broke this support. Thanks for any advice available. Mark |
