Mike,
I agree. Why the 4 blade? Who recommended it?

Also, yes, enjoy the ride.

Its been there for sure, I want to take it up river to the Taste of the Rock but I'm nervous as hell due to it being so shallow up there. These props are not cheap!

Welcome Mike! Great to see another fellow CCer in the Sauk Valley. We use to run our 89 SpN in the sterling-dixon section for the past 4 years, now live in the QCA. Oppold is still our favorite launch hands down. I remember last year labor day for Taste of the Rock I swear I saw your boat. Maybe the previous owner? Anywho, if you ever need a third or human ballast, let me know. Or if you need help with repair/diagnosis of issues, hit me up, always glad to help.

Thanks Phatsat67, to the best of my knowledge this boat has always been on the Rock river here in Dixon, Illinois. It was used for the ski club here back in the day. I did look underneath and they are spade connectors. One good score was that I found my rear running light mounted under there, I'm sure previous owner had no clue it was there. It has just over 1200 hrs and runs like a champ. I put a new 4 blade prop on it when I bought it and can hit roughly 45 mph at 4150 rpms. from what I've read its about the best I'll get. So far it's the best boat I have ever driven, so much fun.

Hi Mike, ok, you're new to CC's, got it;-)

First, welcome, and we'll look forward to more pics of the boat, and it's history.

Next, you've purchased a 'competition' ski boat, designed for, and used in 3-event skiing competitions. As a function, for competition on a slalom course where a specific speed must be adhered to, a dual speedo setup are installed in these type of boats.

There you go!

Pitot style speedos get clogged by debris in the lake sometimes. 2 ensured that when driving a tournament you always had one working speedo.

Cool boat Mike, gel looks clean. If the LH speedo is in fact original you probably have a very early production 1986 boat. Those were the gauges used in 1985 only but appear in some very early 86 boats.

Check your breaker switches, bet they are screw terminals on the back side instead of spade push on. Take an up close photo of the water temp gauge too. It probably has the odd scale that barely moves when it's warmed up.

Looks like it never had coaming pads either and a snap in rear seat? Very interesting rig you have there.

No, I meant "tacky" in the sense the PO put a mastercraft speedo in a CC. No pun intended.
So, in simple terms ;-), the boat came with two identical speedo's, like the one on the left :-)

Thanks man, Are you fairly certain it was a tach? The tach is the lower middle gauge behind steering wheel, could that not be the original position for that?

Nice looking boat Mike. Yeah, tacky replacement for sure. It would have come with the same speedo that's on the left ;-)

Hey all, Here is a pic of my 1986 Ski Nautique. I was wondering why there is a master craft speedo in here. Clearly a replacement, but what was here originally?
