I have heard thru several saltwater boaters that bed liner makes a great oil pan rust preventative

Jack, You are correct that polyester resin is hygroscopic but so is polyester gelcoat and many paints are as well.. What year boat are you working on? I ask since CC hasn't used polyester resins for about 28 years!!! You need to do some better research. Truck bed liner? How hygroscopic is it? Besides being ugly and what I consider a hack job, it sure isn't very original. Sorry. ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Steve.......Have you considered using Nautolex instead of Carpet? It was used in the early 70's and still readily available in different colors and from Amazon. |

So why doesn't my boat fill up and sink due to water leaking through the fiberglass mufflers that are below the water line? Is pray on truck bed liner something that's easy on the knees or something? ![]() |

A piece of a advice. As an alternative pray-on truck bed liner. Carpets that get wet trap moisture against the deck, and the polyester resin used on boats is NOT waterproof (the thing keeping the lake outside your hull is the gellcoat or paint, not the hull), and eventually, you have a punky deck.

Not sure your plan, but I have the last known remaining remnant of the blue/black turf that was originally used. The manufacturer went out of business years ago and I was able to find a partial roll.. I am pretty sure there is plenty to do one more restoration if you were interested. Private Message me if interested. Or email me at kfinn81@msn.com.

Go original with the turf type. It doesn't absorb any water. |

We are getting started on our Ski Tique stringer job. I am currently just removing all of the small parts that will getting replated, reupholstered, modified, etc. I was think about the flooring today. Have there been any big advancements in the world of marine carpet that I should be aware or? If there is something that holds less water or is less susceptible to mold, I would be interested in. I found a lot on the site regarding carpet adhesives but noting on carpet specifically, other than SeaDek.
