The stringers were doubled up and a mess maybe I'll get lucky and find the ID tag when I start taking them out.

If you were to post the serial number,it should start with a B and be on a aluminum tag attached with roofing nails on the port stringer, roughly about where the trans connects to the engine, I'd venture to guess someone here will know the approximate year.

Posted pics from my home computer worked fine I will take more pics of the inside of the boat and engine before I start. Thanks for the info was thinking it was a barracuda. Think I should go with a 289 or 318 to keep it original?

Jim,
Glad you got the picture posting figured out. Thanks for the pictures. keep them coming especially when you get into the stringer replacement. Do you have any pictures of the engine? Do you think it was the original engine? Yes, it sure looks like a Barracuda. ![]() |

finally got some pics of the boat up I think its a 1965 barracuda not sure couldn't pass on this one got it for 400 bucks has a 65 ford 260 with 289 heads looks like the original trailer and the tires. just purchased a 65 289 complete ready to go to the machine shop and while that's being done I'am putting in new douglas fur stringers and a new floor. That should keep me out of trouble this winter.

There was a bellhousing change from 260 and early 298 to later 289 engines and those afterward. Relevant, just not something to not freak over if things look odd to you.
Also 260 and 289 have the same stroke, so you can use the backerds 260 crank in the 289 block to make a reverse 289. |

Your close. You need to view your pic in another web tab so you get the whole url: to copy. something like this
http://correctcraftfan.com/forum/uploads/17712/20170715_160512.jpg See yours is just the local file name to ccfan (after the last / ) |

Some devices will not use the website's routine. There is an easy workaround once you learn how to "code" html. It is easy. You need to tell web browsers that you intend to reference another url. (Your picture). The first set of [ ] define the start of the img tag. Then your Http reference. Then the last set of [ ] tell browsers that the image tag is ending with [/img]. This is the structure of html. TheRe are tags for bold, colors, links, etc.
Try this: Click reply. Then click on the pic of the tree. Then just click "ok". Notice the txt that appears. This is the html (hypertext mark up language) tag for rendering an image to a webpage. < IMG]http://[/IMG > . This one is using the wrong outer brackets, but I am posting it for those who are reading If you switch to "basic mode" from "prompt mode" (drop down button a few to the right of tree), you will get the same without the start of your Http url reference. Once you understand this, you can type the img ref yourself and not use the buttons. On a phone, the prompt and tree method give you a larger target to highlight with your finger to paste over. If you upload your pics using this site in the control panel, zoom out and on some device you will now realize there is an entire right side of the page you do not see. You will even see your uploaded pics. Select your pic from your directory. Click and hold on the preview of the pic and then open in new browser window. Highlight your url in the address bar and copy it. Now take that back to your post. Paste it into the image tag between the ][ where the http:// was. |

Try following the directions in this link to an old thread.
When you get to the 3rd step where the big arrow is pointing at browse, it may say "choose file" instead of "browse" in that box. Click on that box and continue following his instructions. This works on a desktop or laptop. It doesn't work on a phone, tablet etc. link |

Click the full reply editor. It's the slanted arrow icon above the quick reply Then click on the icon of the tree with the up arrow. A browse box will come up allowing you to select anything off your computer.

Jim,
If it's a 1965, the 16.5 length would make the boat a Classic model and several V8 Interceptor Fords were available (listed). Pictures are needed. |

The length is 16'6 dark red on top with a air scoop in front and raised ribs in front and rear. I will upload some pics soon. Thanks for any info.

Marine engines have been derived from automotive engines for many years. It's basically bolt on's that make a engine marine and not it's rotation. Yes, as Ken mentioned, pictures are needed. What's the length? I'm going with what you have is a Mustang. |

Maybe pictures are needed so you can verify just what model you have.
As far as the engine, only you know what your budget is and how "correct" you want to make things 318 reverse rotation Chryslers aren't exactly a dime a dozen and parts aren't very easy to find either. |

I don't want to rebuild the 260 I would rather the 289 but if the boat is a barracuda I should do a 318 to be correct?

The 289 is not a marine engine and not sure if the 260 the boat came is either
