The story I got on the re-power of this Cuda was a dad was very pissed off at his daughter because she somehow blew the original motor up real good. Does still have the original Velvet Drive gear.

If lapped well, they don't come off too easy with a prop puller. |

Chris, If your prop came off, then you certainly did not have it properly seated on the shaft. Was it even lapped to the shaft? If properly seated, you don't even need the prop nut! How do you think a drill chuck arbor it held into a drill press spindle? ![]() |

Yes, I invested into a puller but clearly previous owner did not.
I listen to good advise so I'll check into that Acme 1210. Is it a 3 blade? |

Diving for propellers. Is that sort of like bobbing for apples?

Yep, prop pullers are the correct way to remove a propeller. If a tapered fitting is lapped properly a rubber mallet isn't going to take it off.
Tapered fits are a mechanical interference fit and technically could be ran without a nut to keep it on the shaft if it is properly installed. |

Not sure who ever had to hit that prop on so many times is a bit much. I mean that is excessive even in my BFH 5lb sledge fixes everything world. I bet that thing vibration alone is legendary.
People use prop pullers still? i got one but one rubber mallet tap and I can usually get mine off. |

Scott,
I agree with the prop recommendation above. It will be a great match plus added performance. BTW, do you have a prop puller? ![]() |

I would guess 12x14 as that is what our Cuda had on it. . Don't waste your money having it refinished. I had 2 Federals refinished last year and while they looked pretty, they ran just awful.

What's your guess on propeller size looking at the attachments? 12 x 14 x 1 RH? This prop is on a 1965 Barracuda with a LM318 and actually is a good match. Trying to get a spare of the same size. As you can see none of the original is totally there anymore. Thanks...Scott |
