I called skidim and they are really helpful. They said only 5% of the SN from 1997 had chevy engines. Today I changed the impeller and glad I did cause it was pretty much shot. It's TBI EFI engine. They said parts are readily available so I'm not stressing too much about it now.

TBI non-ho 351w (94-95) = pro ski. They recycled the name very shortly thereafter on a Chevy that I’ve seen in TSC’s. TBI 350 with proski labels sounds about right. Assume we are talking about a 96-00 boat or thereabouts?

The engine markings by PCM say ProSki. If my leaky memory is working, I believe that it is throttle-body EFI and not multi-port injection. JQ |

Thanks for the replies. It was a single owner boat purchased new for 24k in '97. The guy that owned it was super detailed and has all maintenance records from new. I thought apex possibly but definately a pro ski engine and I even verified the serial number. I can't find records of impeller change though so that's on my list and I'm thinking of swapping out the plugs for the quick drains. On the starborad side I have a knock sensor I'm assuming and read that it is actually the drain for the block? Wonder how I can hook up a ball type valve with the sensor or if that even doable. Can't wait to get back in the water...6 months of winter has me thinking I need to relocate!

All Internal Parts and the Aftermarket Heads available for the Chevy are more available and affordable than similar parts for the Ford 351W.
If the Throttle body does not work it would also be feasible to convert back to a carb for not too much money. The Throttle Body GM 350 was used in trucks for enough years that parts are available and not too expensive. It gave good economy and good torque for a ski engine. The later multi Port systems are better but I'm not knocking the throttle body. Had one in a 95 Suburban that ran good for 300,000 miles. It was all done about 4,600 RPM but that is normal in a boat engine. |

Hmmm, are you sure it’s the proski and not the Apex? I don’t think the proski was available until much later. The only thing I see that might be problematic getting parts for is the TBI. But still probably easier to get than the common TBI setup used around 1994-95. Power from the chubby Cheby should be every bit up to par with the other options.

The ProSki is a good engine. I ski with a local Utah skier and CCF member (escmanaze) and his 1997 Ski Nautique is powered by the Chev-based 5.7 ProSki. No complaints. It's been a good engine for him and he has put many hours on his SN. It has enough git-up-and-go to get my fat butt out of the water. In many ways, the 5.7 Small Block Chev is a great engine.

Hey I'm new to the forum. Has anybody had experience with the PCM 350 5.7L chevy proski EFI TBI engine? I recently purchased this boat and was surprised it had a chevy since most were fords. I've read a few things online about lack of parts and how it is a problematic engine?? I'm going to call skidim in the morning but I thought I would ask since I have limited knowledge. It came with a manual but just looking for insight and experience. Thanks!
