Manoseven, Goldcup101, thanks for those replies. Guess I will look for a replacement to stick back on if I decide to dig into it. Only reason I wanted to remove it was to clean up the wax buildup the PO left around the edges. The guy loved wax but didn't know how to remove it off of anything but a flat surface.
Have a great day, Thanks!

Here you go. As mentioned above; you'll ruin the rubber when you remove it so you will need to order a piece and cut to fit. There was no silicone underneath, it just dropped off.   I used this outfit for the plate and to replace the gunwhale step pieces ( https://www.hydroturf.com) - I just bought a small sheet and cut to fit but I've got an idea to replace all with seadek but can't be bothered to template and they haven't patterned the TSC hull.

It is a rubber cover that has to be removed if you want to get the metal plate off. The rubber cover comes off but not always in one piece and definitely leaves a lot of glue residue. After the 8-9 screws underneath it is likely glued down with silicone.
You might be able to get to the screws by peeling up the edges.

Must be different than the 95, they are definitely screws and not studs with nuts. Sharp pointy screws, the kind that make me bleed a lot. No foam to deal with either. You can see in this picture the 2 screws on the starboard side of the step are red circles, and the blue screw is for the vent which is not part of the step assembly.
It looks like I would have to peel the softer cover off to get at the screws. But don't want to try that and end up having to try and find a new one.
Thanks for the reply and help. !!!!

Not 100% sure on your 98 but I doubt it was merely glued down.   The screws you see are more than likely the mounting studs you're looking for. If there is foam covering them you'll of course have to cut away at least enough to get a socket on the nuts. Should just lift out at that point if it's anything like my 95

I could use some help figuring out how this part comes off the boat. I have the tank out for other work right now and want to remove the step for some cleanup under and around it. From underneath I can see screes coming thru the fiberglass around the very outside edge of the whole cover. It looks like there is hard plastic and then a thinner softer cover on this. Is this just stuck down with some kind of adhesive or ???
Thanks for any help you can provide.
