Had that problem on one of my previous boats which turned out to be a bad sender. Replaced the sender and all was good.

I have the same issue but Quinner saved me with a gas can full of his old Coors Light emergency stock last night.

my fuel gauge quit working this spring. it has power and reads empty when the key is off. turn the key on and the gauge needle moves to well below empty. I just filled the tank completely full of fuel. could I have a bad sending unit?
