Check your lanyard as when pulled it cuts power to the fuel pump I believe

I went out to start my 2000 sport nautique for the first time this spring and the fuel pumps are not priming. I did jump the wire to make them turn on and they come on, but now I'm not sure where I go from here. It has the gt 40 motor in it. I did order the two relays on the back of the motor but I'm not sure if that is where I need to start or not.
