Great news....go figure!it always seems to go that way...chase the tail around for a while and find some real simple thing thats screwing it all up Well at least the tail chasing is a good learning experience!

glad to hear you got it sorted out. The cap is keyed on all dist's and can only go on one way otherwise it doesn't seat right on the base. luckly you didn't crack the cap when you tighten it down.

Thanks to all who responded to my posts on throttle linkage adjustment and bad idle holley carb. This weekend I rebuilt the carb again hoping I missed something the first time. I can honestly say I tried every bit of advice given by ccfans numerous times. For all the guys who said it sounded like a timing issue, you were dead on. I checked and changed timing numerous times from 6btc to 9btc and still didn't resolve the problem. I checked the fireing order enough times I should have it memorized. When I pulled the distributor to install one I bought from eric earlier in the week, I discovered that on the cap of my stock one was some plastic that stuck out further than the other side which recessed into the clip to keep it from moving. I moved the cap 180 and reworked the plug wire sequence, and my baby hasn't missed a beat since. Huge Thanks CCfans!!!!!
